Wedding Florists · Orange, New South Wales
Bespoke Country Weddings works from a store on March Street in Orange, about three and a half hours west of Sydney, and has been flowering and styling Central West weddings long enough to have a decade of them published. Florals, styling and a furniture hire collection sit under one roof, which is why so much of its work is at private properties and marquees where nothing comes with the venue. Its floristry is led by Sarah Powell.
Designs follow the season, lean on sustainable materials and use local flower farms wherever possible - and the team names them. Dahlias have come from Come by Chance Flowers in Orange, zinnias and chrysanthemums from Floral Touch, hydrangea from Mayfarm Flowers at Nashdale, and reed foraged from Lake Canobolas. One spring bridal brief was answered with proteas, pincushions, kangaroo paw, leucadendron, wax and billy buttons. Table flowers come in five palettes: classic, fun, pastel, native and pretty.
Couples marrying in Orange wine country or on a family property, who would rather brief one supplier than five. The team knows Borrodell Vineyard, Philip Shaw Wines, Mayfield Vineyard, Rowlee Wines, Stockmans Ridge, Canobolas Dance Hall and the Orange Botanic Gardens from having worked them. It suits marquee weddings especially, and it takes elopements and micro weddings of up to forty guests.
Table flowers are priced openly: two bud vases at $44, a medium arrangement at $88, a larger one at $121, all including GST and needing about a week’s notice. Bridal and ceremony florals are quoted per wedding. The hire collection is priced item by item, from 88c tealight holders to $190 lounges, with arbours and plinths at $88. Hire is held with a 25% non-refundable booking fee, final numbers land 30 days out, and October, November, March and April fill first.
The hire catalogue is the unusual part. Most florists quote a package; here you can browse roughly two hundred priced pieces - trestle tables, bentwood chairs, wine barrels, candlesticks, wishing wells, lawn games - build a wishlist and see the shape of the bill before anyone talks to you. Collect it yourself in Orange with no minimum, or have the team deliver, style and pack it down. It means a couple can start with $1.10 bud vases and scale up, rather than starting at a package price and negotiating down.
