Translucent Photography is Lucy and Dean, a husband-and-wife team based just south of Wollongong. Both were born and raised in the Illawarra and married there themselves, and the business has been running since 2011. Everything happens in-house — the emails, the shooting, the culling and the editing — with Lucy as the primary photographer. Weddings, elopements and family sessions have taken them from ten minutes down the road to New Zealand and the United States.
Style & Approach
Candid and unobtrusive, in their own words: the day gets recorded as it happens rather than directed. Their stated position is blunt — a wedding day is not a theatre production and they are not choreographers, so no pausing a moment for a retake and no asking anyone to take a jacket on and off four times for different angles.
