Alana Taylor has been photographing weddings for over a decade and puts the count at more than three hundred and fifty. She works across the South Coast of New South Wales and the Southern Highlands, and her venue list reads like a map of both: The Merribee at Numbaa, The Homestead and Willow Farm at Berry, Worrowing and The Woods Farm at Jervis Bay, Greyleigh at Kiama, Mali Brae at Moss Vale and Bendooley Estate at Berrima.
Her own summary is authentic, candid and documentary photography for people in love, and she describes her role on the day as a relaxed, hilariously funny observer. She believes a wedding should be experienced rather than performed, and says she is not there to turn the day into a photoshoot. Alongside digital she has shot analogue film for more than fifteen years, on 35mm, 120 and Polaroid, and the wedding portfolio closes with a film section.
Couples marrying between Jervis Bay and the Southern Highlands who want the day recorded as it happens rather than staged. She names awkwardness in front of a camera as the thing she is best placed to solve, so it suits people who dread posing. Midweek celebrations of twenty or fewer are priced separately, which makes an elopement or a micro wedding a real option rather than an afterthought.
Weddings run at six, eight or ten hours and start from $4,950, with the average spend around $5,750. Elopements and micro weddings start from $3,350. Enquiries go by email, she takes a limited number of weddings a year, and 2026 is already close to capacity. Fine art albums are made to order but carry no published price.
The albums. Each one is designed by her, printed on museum quality fine art paper with archival inks, and bound so there is no seam down the middle of a full page spread. They come at ten by ten or twelve by twelve inches square, with a choice of cover colour and embossed text on the front.
