Overview & Vibe
Hannah trained in photography at James Cook University, graduating at nineteen, then spent her early career at sea and abroad — a ship’s photographer through the Mediterranean and Caribbean, the Monaco Grand Prix and the Cannes Film Festival, then Ireland and Scotland with the creative team at Venture Studios. She came home and opened her own portrait studio in 2012. After twelve years in Brisbane she has moved out to the Scenic Rim, and there is now a studio and gallery in the middle of Boonah alongside the Brisbane base she kept on.
Style & Approach
In her own words the style is relaxed, romantic, fun and classic, and the approach is to be subtle yet thorough — the small moments across a day rather than a long list of set-ups. It shows in what she publishes: a bride and her bridesmaid laughing in pyjamas before anyone is dressed, a chalkboard telling the house that Jessica is getting married today, groomsmen in shirts and loud socks, a chapel lit against a storm at dusk. She shoots with a second photographer, Olivia, and couples mention the two of them together.
Ideal For
Couples marrying in the Scenic Rim and the country west of Brisbane who would like to meet their photographer somewhere other than a screen. Her published weddings run through Clandulla Cottages, the chapel and lavender rows at Kooroomba, garden and homestead weddings around Boonah, and further out to Gabbinbar Homestead at Toowoomba. She photographs families, newborns, pets and branding as well, so the same photographer can follow a couple from the wedding into the years after it — several of her clients say exactly that.
