The Carrington Hotel
About
Overview & Vibe
An 1880s grand hotel on the ridge at Katoomba, and one of the few venues in this campaign where the room does the talking: the Grand Dining Room has soaring columns, vaulted ceilings and chandeliers, and seats 134.
Setting & Style
Ceremonies run either on the Piazza Lawn — “surrounded by The Carrington's beautiful gardens and capturing views of the Jamison Valley escarpment” — or in the Ballroom, a natural-light room that also serves as the wet-weather option. Receptions take the Grand Dining Room or the Ballroom. The hotel runs 65 rooms, a public cocktail bar and lounge, a beer garden and landscaped gardens.
Ideal For
Couples who want a heritage building rather than a paddock, everything including beds on one site, and a fully itemised 2026 price list before they enquire.
The Need-to-Knows
- Room hire is separate from the per-head package and the pack says so twice. Grand Dining Room: $2,000 Friday to Sunday, $1,000 Monday to Thursday. Ballroom: $550.
- Accommodation is a compulsory package requirement — $1,800 for ten traditional rooms above the Grand Dining Room, or $1,300 for the Ballroom package's suite and two balcony rooms.
- A ceremony package is $2,000 and is “only available to couples holding their wedding reception at The Carrington Hotel”. A Ballroom ceremony additionally requires the Grand Dining Room as the reception.
- Surcharges: 10% on Sunday, 15% on public holidays.
- The Ballroom's capacity is published three different ways — 80 seated, 70 room capacity, 60 with the dancefloor. Confirm which applies to your layout.
Standout Feature
A 134-seat Victorian dining room with columns and chandeliers, in a hotel that has been doing this for more than a century.

Price Notes
- ROOM HIRE IS NOT IN THE PER-HEAD PRICE, and the pack states it explicitly: '*Room hire is not included in package price. Minimum guest numbers apply.' Grand Dining Room room hire: 'Friday, Saturday, Sunday $2000 / Monday - Thursday $1000'. Ballroom room hire: '$550'.
- ACCOMMODATION IS COMPULSORY, NOT OPTIONAL. Grand Dining Room package: 'Accommodation (compulsory package requirement): 10 Traditional Rooms with private external bathrooms (Located above reception venue). Rates are based on two adults per room. $1800'. Ballroom package: '(Signature Suite and two Premier Balcony Rooms) Rates are based on two adults per room. $1300'.
- THE CEREMONY PACKAGE IS $2,000.00 and is conditional: 'Wedding ceremony packages are only available to couples holding their wedding reception at The Carrington Hotel.' It covers hire of the Piazza Lawn or Ballroom, 2 pedestals with seasonal floral arrangements, 70 white chairs, signing table and 2 chairs, cream carpet runner, and audio visual (speaker, PA, microphone and AUX connection). A FURTHER CONDITION: 'A Ballroom ceremony is only available to couples who have booked the Grand Dining Room as their reception venue.'
- SURCHARGES APPLY TO CEREMONIES AND RECEPTIONS ALIKE: '10% on Sunday, 15% on Public Holidays.'
- PRICED ADDITIONS, all from the same pack: 'Additional night in wedding suite $350'; 'Menu Tasting (maximum 4 guests) $90' per person; 'Beverage package extension $10 per person / hour'; 'Dancefloor lights $100'; 'Stage $500'.
- SO THE REAL FLOOR IS WELL ABOVE $255pp. A Grand Dining Room wedding carries at minimum $255 per head PLUS $1,000-$2,000 room hire PLUS $1,800 compulsory accommodation, before the $2,000 ceremony package. Recorded plainly because the per-head figure alone would badly understate it.
- A SECOND CURRENT PACK EXISTS for non-wedding functions - 'Functions-and-Events-Package.pdf', also dated 14 May 2026 - and its numbers describe BANQUET configurations rather than weddings: 'Banquets have a maximum of 138 guests with no dancefloor. 102 guests with a dancefloor'; 'a maximum of 80 guests with no dancefloor'; 'a maximum of 70 guests with no dancefloor. 58 guests with a dancefloor'. It also names small rooms not offered for weddings - the Sir Henry Parkes Room ('an ideal space for small meetings of up to 6 people') and a Board Room ('private luncheons or dinners for up to 10 guests') - plus The Colonnade, where 'All private bookings require a minimum of 80 guests'. None of these is a wedding capacity and none is stored as one.
- NO DIETARY POSITION IS PUBLISHED IN THE WEDDING PACK. The functions pack marks individual platters 'gluten free available on request' and flags vegetarian items, and a guest review on the site says the hotel 'catered very well to all dietary needs' - but a review is not the venue's own statement of policy, and the wedding menus publish no dietary note. dietary_options_supported recorded NULL rather than inferred.
- ACCESSIBILITY IS MENTIONED ONLY IN A REVIEW, not in the hotel's own copy: 'The Carrington also caters towards various accessibility needs, plus babies and children.' Worth confirming directly.
- BOTH PDFs ARE CURRENT: 'Weddings 2026' and the functions pack are dated 14 May 2026 by both the PDF /ModDate and the HTTP Last-Modified header - about ten weeks old at capture. All pricing above is in scope under the two-year rule.
- EXTRACTION NOTE FOR WHOEVER RE-CHECKS THIS: both PDFs extract with a space between every character ('W e d d i n g s'). Keyword greps return ZERO against the raw extraction even though the text is fully present. De-space first - a run of two or more spaces is a word break, a single space is padding.
