Ivy Floral & Co is a boutique wedding and event studio in Epping, run by floral designer Ivy Kim, who started in 2016 and has been working with flowers for more than seven years. It is a design practice rather than a shop: every arrangement is made to order, quotations are free, and the studio keeps weekday hours. Its work runs from harbourside arbours to suspended ceiling installations, and it services Sydney, the Southern Highlands and the Hunter Valley.
Elegant, romantic, timeless and refined is how the studio puts it, and the portfolio bears it out - modern white and green schemes built on garden-scented and Playa Blanca roses, phalaenopsis orchid, hydrangea, Queen Anne’s lace and flannel flower, alongside brighter summer work in coral and rust. It designs to the season rather than against it, and it will build the same brief at any scale, from a bouquet to a ceiling.
Couples who want to know what their day will actually cost before they enquire. The studio publishes three of its own weddings as worked examples, each with the venue, the guest count, the floral budget, the exact list of arrangements and the flowers used - a minimalist white wedding for 50 to 100 guests at $5,000 to $7,000, a Tuscan-styled celebration for under 50 at $7,000 to $10,000, and a modern white wedding for 100 to 150 with a ceiling installation at $15,000 to $25,000. Read together they show something a price list cannot: the brief drives the figure, not the headcount.
The minimum spend is $5,000, stated plainly on the enquiry form. That form asks for your date, venue, guest count band and budget band before it asks about style, so have them ready. Weddings and other events use different forms - send a wedding brief to the wedding one. Delivery, set-up and installation come with the job, including interstate-scale travel: for the Hunter Valley wedding everything was built in Epping and driven up. If you want a suspended ceiling piece, check your venue allows it first.
The ceiling work. One published wedding at Orso in Mosman used the venue’s floor-to-ceiling height for a suspended installation over the centre of the reception room, and the studio explains where else such a piece can go - above the ceremony, the dance floor, the entrance, the bar, a marquee’s rafters or the cake table - along with the one practical caveat, which is to ask your venue first.
