Overview & Vibe

Alana Taylor has been photographing weddings for over a decade and puts the count at more than three hundred and fifty. She works across the South Coast of New South Wales and the Southern Highlands, and her venue list reads like a map of both: The Merribee at Numbaa, The Homestead and Willow Farm at Berry, Worrowing and The Woods Farm at Jervis Bay, Greyleigh at Kiama, Mali Brae at Moss Vale and Bendooley Estate at Berrima.

Style & Approach

Her own summary is authentic, candid and documentary photography for people in love, and she describes her role on the day as a relaxed, hilariously funny observer. She believes a wedding should be experienced rather than performed, and says she is not there to turn the day into a photoshoot. Alongside digital she has shot analogue film for more than fifteen years, on 35mm, 120 and Polaroid, and the wedding portfolio closes with a film section.

She names awkwardness in front of a camera as the thing she is best placed to solve, so it suits people who dread posing. Midweek celebrations of twenty or fewer are priced separately, which makes an elopement or a micro wedding a real option rather than an afterthought.
