Nessy Eyles works from a walk-in studio on Campbell Street in Rockhampton, and weddings are one line of a broad practice that also covers portraits, formals, boudoir, pet portraits and commercial branding work. For couples that mix is useful rather than a distraction: the wedding packages are laid out in full with prices attached, the studio is a real address you can visit, and the same photographer has been working Central Queensland long enough to have shot weddings in Rockhampton, Yeppoon, Emerald, Mackay, Springsure, Gladstone and New Zealand.
She describes the aim as beautiful, authentic wedding images that tell the story of the day from beginning to end, with attention on the laughter, the emotion and the quiet glances rather than on arranging people. The promised result is elegant and classical photographs, and the promised experience is relaxed and professional. Her own summary of her range is that she does not really have a favourite genre, which shows in a portfolio that moves between fine detail and full wedding-party energy.
Couples marrying anywhere in Central Queensland who want firm published prices before making contact, and who would rather deal with an established local studio than book remotely. The tiers run from a two-hour elopement through to a full day with a second photographer, so it suits small courthouse-scale weddings and large ones equally. There is also a dedicated New Zealand package for couples marrying there.
Five packages are published. Daisy covers a two-hour elopement at around $1,000; Lily gives up to four hours of ceremony and portraits at around $1,900; Tulip adds bride prep and an hour of reception at around $3,400 for up to seven hours; and Rose at around $4,900 adds a free engagement session, prep for both parties, three hours of reception and a second photographer for roughly five hours. A separate Silver Fern package for New Zealand weddings is NZ$4,500 with the photographer’s flights and accommodation included. Two of the packages include gourmet grazing boxes from the studio’s sister business.
She is a recipient of the CHRC art award, was a Bayton award entrant in 2017, has been published in fashion magazines, and holds The Portrait Masters Associate seal from 2021 — an unusual amount of assessed recognition for a regional studio. The grazing boxes built into the wedding packages are a genuinely practical touch: food for the bridal party while they are getting ready, and a grazing table for guests during the portrait gap.
