Wedding Photographers · East Coast Tasmania / Freycinet, Tasmania
Heart and Colour is a Northern New South Wales wedding photography studio founded by Phil, who started it off the back of marrying his own wife Bek; she runs the business alongside him and Aaron shoots as the second photographer. Their own summary of the work is three words — honest, emotive, timeless — and their published weddings run from the Byron hinterland to Brisbane, Tasmania, Mudgee, Crescent Head, Queenstown and France.
They describe the goal as capturing the day as it unfolds, documenting the joy and romance with loved ones, the details and all the in-between moments, to give a collection of images that tell the story honestly, elegantly and timelessly. Retouching is deliberately light: they say the straight answer is no, though blemishes are removed and skin smoothed where it helps.
Couples marrying in the Northern Rivers who want a large, unhurried record rather than a curated handful — the minimum delivered is 800 images and there is no cap on the number. It also suits couples marrying a long way from home: travel costs are built into the package price rather than added afterwards, and the same all-inclusive structure covers Australasia, America and Europe.
The Australasia package is $5,800 for full-day coverage with one photographer, a minimum of 800 images and all travel costs included. Photographs arrive in four to eight weeks, usually four. A second photographer is priced on request, a pre-wedding party or an extra portrait session is $950 for two hours, and all prices are quoted in Australian dollars with no hidden fees or taxes.
Three quite different keepsakes rather than one: a 10 by 10 inch album at $1,700 with roughly 125 images across 45 spreads, leather or fabric bound with names embossed and presented in a natural leather bag; an 8.5 inch magazine-style book at $600 with about 150 images over 80 spreads on eggshell matte paper; or a keepsake box at $800 holding some 500 lustre prints, in cream, rustic brown or black.
