About

Overview & Vibe

Adam Hacking has photographed weddings since late 2013, after a decade working in corporate advertising, and works out of northern Melbourne and the coast around Torquay and Geelong. The work leans country and coastal — published weddings at Barwon Heads, Lorne, Mansfield, Kilmore, Talbot, Daylesford and the Dandenongs, and one as far north as Brisbane. He is a husband and father, describes himself as wearing his heart on his sleeve, and says plainly that he believes in love and commitment and in knowing when you have found the person.

Style & Approach

Photojournalistic and natural, in his own description — taking a step back and capturing the authentic flow of the day rather than directing it. His stated aim is that you remember the real moments, not forced and overly posed images you will look back on and cringe at. He prefers to cover a whole day for exactly that reason, because the moments worth having tend to happen in between the scheduled ones.

Ideal For

Couples marrying somewhere rustic, coastal or a long way from a city — and couples eloping, which he prices separately and from a considerably lower entry point than a full wedding day. He also offers couple and engagement sessions, and is explicit that he works Australia-wide and overseas, so a destination wedding is a quote rather than an obstacle.

The Need-to-Knows

Wedding day packages start at $3,000, elopements at $1,000 and couple or engagement sessions at $450. The full package list is sent after an enquiry along with availability, so the published figures are entry points rather than a complete rate card. Hand-bound album collections and fine art wall pieces can be organised at any stage. He asks that if you have not heard back within twenty-four hours you call him, because emails do get missed.

Standout Feature

His stated promise is about what happens after the day rather than on it: the images are waiting when you get back from the honeymoon, with small glimpses along the way. The line he leads with about how he works is *you are a person, not a payment* — and he illustrates it with teaching a groomsman a windsor knot and driving a mother to the chapel when the car broke down.

Albums & Prints

  • Hand-Bound Album Collections. Price: Not published. Description: Wedding photography packages come with beautifully hand-bound album collections, tailored as a keepsake and able to be organised at any stage.
  • Fine Art Wall Prints. Price: Not published. Description: A fine art piece for the wall, offered alongside the albums as a gift or a keepsake.

Appointment Policy

  • Send an enquiry with a hello and a possible wedding date, and Adam replies with availability plus the full list of wedding packages.
  • He likes to meet couples in person over a coffee, and will chat by phone instead if distance makes meeting hard.
  • If you have not heard back within twenty-four hours he asks that you call or email him directly, because emails sometimes get missed.
