The National Arboretum Canberra covers 250 hectares of hillside on Forest Drive at Molonglo Valley, planted with a hundred forests of rare and symbolic trees and looking straight back across Lake Burley Griffin to the city.

Setting & Style

Two buildings carry the weddings. The Village Centre is the award-winning one at the heart of the site, its soaring ceilings inspired by the fronds of the neighbouring Chilean wine palm forest, filled with natural light through spans of glass giving uninterrupted panoramic views over the lake and Canberra — it seats five hundred or holds seven hundred standing, and is available for after-hours functions only since the building is open to the public through the day. The Margaret Whitlam Pavilion is the intimate alternative: architecturally designed with floor-to-ceiling glass, arching walls, a steeple ceiling and a private balcony, for eighty seated or a hundred and thirty-eight standing. Beyond the buildings, ceremonies can be held in the forests, the gardens, the Amphitheatre or the Gallery of Gardens.

For garden ceremonies or forest weddings, couples complete the Arboretum's own booking form, and the ACT Government manages those bookings via arboretum@act.gov.au.
