Paul Golbach has photographed weddings for almost ten years from a base in Sydney, and now shoots full-time across Australia and Europe. Before the camera he spent over a decade running his own businesses in the fitness industry, and he credits that with the calm under pressure and the patience he brings to a wedding day.
He describes his approach as sitting at the intersection of editorial artistry and authentic documentary storytelling, drawn to the tension between the composed elegance of a lit portrait and the raw emotion of a moment nobody else saw. He works with a calm, observational presence, guiding gently when it helps and stepping back when it does not. Thirty-five millimetre film is part of the offering, shot on Portra 400 and Ilford HP5 and scanned alongside the digital gallery.
Couples across Sydney and the surrounding regions — the Blue Mountains and out to Lithgow and Rydal, the Hunter Valley, the Southern Highlands, the South Coast, the Central Coast and Canberra — and couples marrying in Italy, where he takes a small number of European weddings each summer.
Collections start at $4,500 for Australian weddings and most couples invest around $6,000, with a minimum of six hours of coverage. Every collection includes all images edited and colour-corrected, a password-protected online gallery with web-size and high-resolution files, a preview gallery within 48 hours of the day, a customised slideshow set to music, a wedding guide and a pre-wedding meet and greet. Full galleries arrive in four to six weeks. A deposit and a signed agreement secure the date, and enquiries are by email — no phone number is published.
