About

Overview & Vibe

Thom Dwyer photographs weddings from a base at Shellharbour on the Illawarra coast, and his own line for it is that the South Coast of New South Wales is his home and your wedding is his office. He works across a genuinely wide arc — the Illawarra escarpment, the Shoalhaven, the Southern Highlands, Sydney, and inland to Orange and Bathurst — and the blog carries more than fifty real weddings, each named for the couple and the venue.

Style & Approach

He sets out to help couples who value authenticity and romance stay present on the day, documenting honest moments through a relaxed, natural approach and refined, cinematic imagery. He is direct about what he avoids: structured, posed, unnatural photographs. The aim is the raw emotion of the day and all the small moments in between, with the couple’s own personality showing through rather than a house look imposed on it.

Ideal For

Illawarra and South Coast couples first, and anyone marrying at a country property or a winery who wants a photographer already at ease there. The published work runs from the Sea Cliff Bridge and Mount Kembla to Merribee House and Bawleyvale Estate, up to Mali Brae Farm and Montrose House in the Southern Highlands, and out to Rowlee, Printhie and Stockmans Ridge around Orange. Engagement sessions and family sessions are offered as their own services.

The Need-to-Knows

Wedding coverage starts at $3,000, with packages built around the shape of the day — his own range is from the all-night party to the simple family wedding. Engagement sessions are $500 and family sessions $300. Couples describe sneak peek images arriving the next day or within twenty-four hours. Albums are printed through Atkins Pro Lab in Australia as matte art flat books, square 10 by 10 or portrait 12 by 8, in leather or linen with embossed titles, and nothing goes to print without the couple’s approval. Contact is by email or phone.

Standout Feature

The reach, and the proof of it. Most photographers who claim a wide territory show work in one corner of it. His blog names the venue in almost every post, so a couple can check whether he has already shot at the place they have booked — and across the Illawarra, the South Coast, the Highlands, Sydney, Orange and Bathurst, the answer is often yes.

  • Album Sizes. Price: On enquiry. Description: Square ten by ten or portrait twelve by eight, designed with the couple, and nothing is printed without their approval.
