Angus McKern has photographed weddings for over ten years from Orange, in the Central West of New South Wales, and his published work runs through the district’s vineyards — Rowlee, Heifer Station, Mayfield — and out to the farms and private properties around them. He is a husband of twelve years and a dad, and he says plainly that this is why he photographs weddings the way he does.
Raw and natural, in the words of the couples he quotes. He is not chasing perfect: *the best photographs aren’t the most perfect ones, they’re the most honest ones*. What he wants is for you to be yourselves rather than a wedding-day version of yourselves — not worrying about where to look or what to do with your hands.
Couples marrying in and around Orange and the Central West — a Rowlee or Heifer Station vineyard day, a Mayfield garden, a private property outside Dubbo. He takes a limited number of weddings a year, so early contact matters more here than most.
