About

Overview & Vibe

Ben Adams has photographed weddings for over twenty years and works alone by choice, out of Newcastle and across the Hunter, the Central Coast and Sydney. He is drawn to weddings that skip the usual running order, and says plainly that he does not think there are rules for them. Coverage runs from a three-hour elopement to a full day deep into the dancing, and a couple can expect roughly a hundred images for every hour he is there.

Style & Approach

Candid and documentary, described in his own words as low fuss, low key, unpolished, all heart, sunlight, and moments over poses. He prefers to float in the background and let the day flow, stepping in with a little more direction only for the portraits. Film is available alongside the digital coverage, shot on 35mm and hand scanned. The stated aim is simply to show the truth of the day.

Ideal For

Couples marrying around Newcastle and the Hunter, at homesteads and vineyards through the valley, along the Central Coast, or in Sydney. The three-hour package is built for midweek elopements and small weddings under twenty guests. Couples who feel awkward in front of a camera are directly addressed on his questions page, and the work leans heavily on guests, children and dance floors rather than arranged groups.

The Need-to-Knows

Three collections at three, six and nine hours. A signed contract and a fifteen hundred dollar deposit confirm a date. An initial selection arrives within forty-eight hours and the complete gallery about four weeks later, through an online platform that stays open for twelve months so guests can download images and order prints. Extra hours, a second photographer, film and linen coffee table books are priced separately.

Standout Feature

Travel carries no charge anywhere across Newcastle, the Hunter Valley, the Central Coast and Sydney — an unusually wide fee-free radius that covers the whole corridor rather than a set distance from one town. He also publishes a separate price list for each coming season, so a couple booking well ahead can see exactly what their year costs.
