Overview & Vibe
Mark Dohring has photographed Adelaide weddings since 2008 and spent a decade in film and television before that, and both show. His galleries run long and quiet — the tying of a dress, a father’s hug, a saxophone player in a marquee at midnight — and he shoots a good deal of it on film, including a plastic-bodied Holga he keeps for late evening when the tempo is high. Weddings across the Adelaide Hills, the Barossa and the coast make up the bulk of the published work.
Style & Approach
He works across documentary and editorial, favouring film for its texture, and describes himself as a firm believer that less interference usually leads to more meaning. Nothing is overly staged.
