Sarah Godenzi is a Melbourne wedding and elopement photographer who works in a relaxed, journalistic way, and who describes her couples as laid-back lovers celebrating on their own terms. She grew up in Warburton in the Yarra Valley and says she has come to embrace those country roots. Every couple who books her wedding photography also funds a donation to an animal sanctuary.
She calls her style journalistic: she stays unobtrusive and lets the natural moments happen, rather than arranging them. The result is candid, warm and timeless, in a mix of colour and black and white, and she shoots digital with the option of adding 35mm film for a softer, more nostalgic feel.
Couples who feel awkward in front of a camera and want to forget it is there, and non-traditional celebrations of any size, from a full wedding day to a two-hour elopement.
She meets every couple before the wedding, builds a run sheet with them and stays in touch throughout, so that by the day itself she is a familiar face rather than a stranger with a camera.
