Wedding Photographers · Phillip Island, Victoria
Immerse Photography is Genelle Bevan, who has photographed weddings for twenty-five years and works from the Bass Coast, a short drive from Phillip Island. Her portfolio is built around whole wedding days told as a story rather than a set of poses, and it runs from full celebrations at island venues to two people on a clifftop with nobody else there.
She describes her recent weddings as authentic, beautiful and romantic, and her aim is to be a storyteller on the day: to be present and capture it as it happens rather than contrive images or repeat what everyone else is doing. She asks couples about how they met and who they are together before the day, so that the coverage is built around them. She shoots cleanly and in good light, so the images are colour corrected rather than heavily retouched.
Couples marrying on Phillip Island or across the Bass Coast who want a photographer who already knows the venues and the light there, and couples at the other end of the scale planning an elopement or a micro wedding for thirty guests or fewer. Her published work includes both, along with weddings further afield in Gippsland, the Yarra Valley and the high country.
Wedding coverage starts at $4,500 for eight hours, and elopements and micro weddings start at $1,500 for a two-hour minimum, with extra hours at $500 each. A second photographer is $500 and an album starts at $1,500. Booking is handled online with a contract and a questionnaire, and the fee is paid in three parts: a third on booking, a third halfway to the day, and a third the week before. Sneak peeks usually arrive within 48 hours and the full gallery within three to four weeks.
Bass Coast weddings get an extra hour of coverage at no charge. She names Chapter Barn, Phillip Island Winery, The Shearing Shed, The Grove and The Gurdies among the venues this applies to, and the reason she gives is simply that less driving for her means more photography for the couple.
