Amanda Downie Creative is a Newcastle wedding photographer who has been working across Newcastle and the Hunter Valley since 2014. The work leans warm and unhurried — golden afternoon light, couples left to enjoy their own day, and the small moments that happen between the planned ones. Recent weddings include an intimate elopement on the Valentine foreshore and a beach celebration at Redhead, both on Lake Macquarie.
She describes her shooting style as super candid and unobtrusive, built around natural light and a relaxed pace so couples can stay in the day rather than performing for the camera. Her stated goal is to feel like a friend by the time the day arrives, so the images come out natural and authentic, and she is candid about going to some lengths for a frame — including knee-deep into the ocean.
Couples planning an intimate elopement, a small foreshore or beach ceremony, or a relaxed full-day celebration around Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and the Hunter Valley. The five-hour entry package suits a short, tightly-run day; the nine-hour package covers preparation through to reception and adds an engagement session.
Three wedding packages run from $1,800 to $3,000, covering five, seven and nine hours. Every package includes an online gallery of edited full-resolution and web-size images and a sneak peek of five images within 48 hours. Pricing is all-inclusive with no GST added on top. A 30 per cent non-refundable deposit secures a date, and enquiries are answered by email or text, usually within 24 to 48 hours. She is currently booking 2026 and 2027 weddings.
Postponement is handled at no extra cost — stated plainly rather than buried — which is an unusually direct commitment for a small studio, and a meaningful one for couples planning around weather or family travel.
