Homestead Road Bridal Co
About
Overview & Vibe
Homestead Road Bridal Co is a designer bridal boutique on the main street of Uralla, a village of about 2,400 in the New England high country. It is run by Jo, who started it after getting engaged and moving to Moree and finding the search for a gown exhausting: her aim is “to bring Australia’s leading bridal brands closer to home” so a country bride is not making an on-the-spot decision in a city she cannot easily return to. Her words for the place are “country charm meets city elegance”.
Dress Styles & Designers
The list is the surprise: Karen Willis Holmes, Made With Love, Moira Hughes Couture and Stella York, alongside Erin Clare Bridal, Hera Couture, Lola Varma, Alca Line Bride and Jack Sullivan, with veils by Madame Tulle. There is also a pre-loved and sample rail of 28 gowns from the same designers.
Ideal For
A regional bride who wants city labels without the city, and one who wants time to think — first appointments run an hour and a half and you are welcome back for a second. It also suits a bride in a hurry or on a budget: the pre-loved and sample gowns are $1,000 to $3,500 and you can walk out with one the same day.
The Need-to-Knows
The boutique is open Thursday to Saturday 9am–4pm and Sunday 10am–3pm, and bookings are essential — cancel at least 48 hours ahead so another bride can take the slot. Start looking about 12 months out: made-to-order gowns take 4 to 7 months, and alterations need time after that. A rush order is possible for a fee of $200 to $400. You can bring four guests comfortably. Wear seamless nude underwear, bring a strapless or backless bra and your wedding shoes, and skip makeup and fresh fake tan — especially for the pre-loved gowns. No returns; a faulty gown is exchanged.
Standout Feature
The seamstress flies in. Jasmine, the in-house alterations specialist, is based on the Gold Coast with over ten years of sewing behind her and five specialising in wedding gowns, and she is in the Uralla boutique the first weekend of every month. She will alter any wedding dress, including one you did not buy here. For a bride in New England, that is a fitting service that would otherwise mean a day’s drive.

Dress Experience
- Homestead Road Bridal Co is run by Jo, who lives on a family property near Blackville with her husband, their daughter and a border collie.
- She spent ten years in Sydney, and started the boutique after her own search for a gown from Moree proved exhausting.
- Her aim is that brides in regional areas no longer need to travel to a capital city and decide on the spot.
- Appointments are one-on-one, and you are given the time you need for what she calls an emotional decision.
- The boutique carries a curated range of Australian and international designers, and can often request a gown in from a designer if you ask ahead.
- Its in-house seamstress Jasmine has over ten years of sewing experience and more than five specialising in wedding dresses.
