Wedding Florists · Sydney, New South Wales
Ivy Rae is a boutique wedding floral studio in the Sutherland Shire, founded in 2019 by Alana Tolhurst and named after her Great Dane. She has more than ten years behind the bench, teaches floristry casually at TAFE, and has been recognised with floral art awards and featured in Vogue, The Wed and Theodore. She has also attended twenty-five weddings, stood in six bridal parties and married in 2021 - which is her own way of saying she understands the day from more than one side.
Modern, romantic and editorial. The studio names the three looks it works in - clean and minimal with sculptural flowers and a refined palette; romantic garden style with layered textures and soft movement; or editorial, with unusual shapes and statement installations. In practice that runs from a white bouquet of double tulips to a bold crimson and magenta installation, and from calla lilies with grapes on a white table to a full floral aisle inside a marquee.
Couples who want to choose their florals item by item rather than from a package. The enquiry runs as a tick-list across five sections - bridal party, ceremony, reception, hire and signage - with quantities, so a quote comes back matched to exactly what you asked for. It also suits couples who want one supplier past the flowers: signage, hire, on-the-day coordination, set-up, clean-up and even a social content creator are all on the same list.
No prices are published; the enquiry form asks for your budget instead, and you can book a virtual quote consultation rather than fill it in. Have both names, the date, guest count, budget, colour theme, vibe and both venue names ready before you start. Allow three business days for a reply. The studio deliberately books a limited number of weddings a year, so early is better. Weddings run across Sydney, the South Coast and the North Coast, with destination work taken worldwide.
Dry hire sits on the list as its own option. Most florists fold props into the floral quote and will not release them separately; here you can take the easels, vases, plinths, candle holders, wishing well or arbours without commissioning the flowers - useful if you are doing your own blooms but want the structures to match.
