About

Overview & Vibe

Ivy Rae is a boutique wedding floral studio in the Sutherland Shire, founded in 2019 by Alana Tolhurst and named after her Great Dane. She has more than ten years behind the bench, teaches floristry casually at TAFE, and has been recognised with floral art awards and featured in Vogue, The Wed and Theodore. She has also attended twenty-five weddings, stood in six bridal parties and married in 2021 - which is her own way of saying she understands the day from more than one side.

Style & Signature Blooms

Modern, romantic and editorial. The studio names the three looks it works in - clean and minimal with sculptural flowers and a refined palette; romantic garden style with layered textures and soft movement; or editorial, with unusual shapes and statement installations. In practice that runs from a white bouquet of double tulips to a bold crimson and magenta installation, and from calla lilies with grapes on a white table to a full floral aisle inside a marquee.

Ideal For

Couples who want to choose their florals item by item rather than from a package. The enquiry runs as a tick-list across five sections - bridal party, ceremony, reception, hire and signage - with quantities, so a quote comes back matched to exactly what you asked for. It also suits couples who want one supplier past the flowers: signage, hire, on-the-day coordination, set-up, clean-up and even a social content creator are all on the same list.

The Need-to-Knows

No prices are published; the enquiry form asks for your budget instead, and you can book a virtual quote consultation rather than fill it in. Have both names, the date, guest count, budget, colour theme, vibe and both venue names ready before you start. Allow three business days for a reply. The studio deliberately books a limited number of weddings a year, so early is better. Weddings run across Sydney, the South Coast and the North Coast, with destination work taken worldwide.

Standout Feature

Dry hire sits on the list as its own option. Most florists fold props into the floral quote and will not release them separately; here you can take the easels, vases, plinths, candle holders, wishing well or arbours without commissioning the flowers - useful if you are doing your own blooms but want the structures to match.

Appointment Policy

  • Start with the studio's wedding enquiry form, or book a virtual quote consultation call instead if you would rather talk it through.
  • The form asks for both names, your date, guest count, budget, colour theme, overall vibe, a Pinterest board and both your ceremony and reception locations - so gather those first.
  • You then tick the exact items you want across bridal party, ceremony, reception, hire and signage, with quantities, which means the quote comes back matched to your list.
  • Allow three business days for a reply.
  • The studio books a limited number of weddings each year, so enquire early to secure a date.

Areas Serviced

  • Sydney - the studio is based in the Sutherland Shire and designs weddings across the city.
  • South Coast - named by the studio among the regions it designs weddings for.
  • North Coast - named by the studio among the regions it designs weddings for; it does not say which towns, so ask before you plan around it.
  • Australia-wide and destination weddings worldwide are taken, and the studio deliberately books a limited number of weddings each year.
  • For everyday flower delivery rather than a wedding, the studio publishes an A-to-Z list of about forty suburbs across Sydney's eastern suburbs and inner south, from Alexandria and Bondi to Little Bay, Maroubra, Randwick, Surry Hills and Zetland.

Delivery & Setup

  • Set-up and clean-up are offered as their own line items on the enquiry, so you can have the studio install and pack down rather than only deliver.
  • On-the-day coordination and site visits can be added, which means the studio will run the floral bump-in itself and see the venue before the day.
  • A social content creator can be added, capturing the day behind the scenes as it unfolds.
  • For everyday flower orders the studio delivers to about forty named suburbs across Sydney's eastern suburbs and inner south.
