About

Overview & Vibe

White House Flowers is a wedding and event floral studio in Brookvale, on Sydney’s northern beaches, founded in 2019 by Mel Anderson and Jess Hapl. It began in a white house in Manly and now works from a warehouse atelier. Mel holds a Master’s in Architecture and is a third-generation florist who grew up in her grandparents’ shop in Northern Ireland; Jess came through textiles and runs the event and retail side. Both are at the flower markets before dawn.

Style & Signature Blooms

The work is architectural and editorial rather than pretty-by-default - the studio talks about proportion, balance, and colour, form and texture in dialogue with the room. In practice that runs from a single cascading white bouquet down the length of a gown to a floral installation suspended over a whole reception. No individual bloom is named; the promise is the market run instead, with the stems chosen on the morning rather than off a list.

Ideal For

Couples marrying on the northern beaches or around the harbour who want the flowers to change the room rather than decorate it. The studio’s own register of weddings runs from Pilu at Freshwater, Long Reef Golf Club, Moby Dicks at Whale Beach and Dunes at Palm Beach to Burnt Orange and Athol Hall at Mosman, Zest at Point Piper, Pier One, 12 Micron at Barangaroo and Deckhouse at Woolwich - so it knows the bump-in at most of them already. It also travels, having flowered weddings at Shoalhaven Heads, in the Hunter Valley and at Sutton Forest.

The Need-to-Knows

There is no price list and no minimum: everything is quoted from an enquiry, and couples describe the studio working to a budget they set. Weddings and other events have separate enquiry routes, so use the wedding one. Contact is by the form only - no phone number or email is published. Expect a consultation after the enquiry, and plan for a long run-up; couples describe working with the studio across the twelve months before the day, with sneak peeks along the way.

Standout Feature

What couples write about most is the pack-down, not the set-up. The team has moved arrangements more than once mid-day when rain and a late start changed the running order, and at the end of the night it has wrapped leftover blooms into bunches for guests to carry home - down to particular flowers guests asked for. That is the part of a florist’s day nobody advertises and every couple remembers.

Appointment Policy

  • Weddings start with the studio's own enquiry form, headed 'Tell us a little bit more about your big day...' - there is no phone number or email address published.
  • Events other than weddings go through a separate enquiry page, so send a wedding brief to the wedding route.
  • A consultation follows the enquiry; couples describe meeting the team and working through options and budget from there.
  • Couples describe long lead times - one worked with the studio across the twelve months before the wedding - and sneak peeks shared before the day.

Areas Serviced

  • Sydney - the studio designs weddings across the city from its Brookvale base, and its own summary reads 'curating deeply personal weddings across Sydney and beyond'.
  • Northern Beaches - the studio began in a white house in Manly and now works from a Brookvale atelier, and the weddings in its portfolio cluster along the northern beaches and the harbour.

Delivery & Setup

  • The studio delivers and installs on the day, then returns to pack down - couples describe ceremony and reception setups both being handled by the team.
  • Arrangements are moved during the day where the running order needs it; one couple describes florals being repositioned more than once for a tea ceremony after rain and a late start.
  • At the end of the night the team has packed leftover blooms into bunches for guests to take home, including to specific requests.
