Linda Pasfield and Anthony Pforr run a two-photographer studio from a waterfront home at Beauty Point on the Tamar, and a second base at Eagle Heights on Tamborine Mountain in Queensland. Between them they have more than fifty years behind the camera — Anthony is a fourth-generation photographer whose family ran a colour lab in Brisbane for three generations — and they won Tasmanian Brides Choice for photography in 2019, 2020 and 2021. Elopements are the speciality at both ends: Wineglass Bay, snow on the Central Plateau, lavender rows, and rainforest and vineyards on the mountain.
Classic portraits sit beside candid, emotional frames, and the landscape does a great deal of the work — sunsets, storm light, reflections and weather are used rather than avoided. The Tasmanian pictures are wide and dramatic; the Tamborine ones are warm and subtropical, all hinterland haze and vineyard green. Both sets are richly graded and unafraid of colour.
Couples eloping or marrying small, in either of two places 1,700 kilometres apart. In Tasmania that means Launceston and the Tamar, Hobart, Devonport and the wild east coast; in Queensland it means Tamborine Mountain, an hour from both Brisbane and the Gold Coast. Anyone who wants the setting to be half the picture will be well served; anyone after tight indoor reportage should look at the galleries first.
Elopement packages are published in full and include a celebrant, all legal paperwork and two hours of photography with a minimum of 200 high-resolution images on a USB. On Tamborine Mountain they run $1,300 midweek and $1,550 Friday to Sunday; the Tasmanian package is $1,395 and includes a glass of Tasmanian sparkling. Midweek photography specials start at $750. Extra photography is $150 an hour and a second photographer is $300. A celebrant needs one month’s notice for the Notice of Intended Marriage.
The two bases, and the fact that both are real rather than a travel radius. Each carries its own postal address, its own phone listing and its own priced elopement package — and the Tamborine pictures look nothing like the Tasmanian ones, which is the surest sign the second base is worked rather than advertised.
