A historic homestead on the Sunraysia Highway at Lexton, in Victoria's Pyrenees wine country — thirty minutes north-west of Ballarat and a bit under two hours from Melbourne. Formal gardens, a lake, mountains on the skyline, and National Trust-listed stables that double as a photo backdrop.

Setting & Style

Ceremonies go in the rose gardens, under a marquee on the lawns rolling out from the homestead, or under an arbour at the end of a walkway lined with crab apple blossom. The estate's own photographs show clear-roofed marquees lit at dusk on the lawn in front of the house, long tables inside them, and a poplar avenue for portraits.

The Need-to-Knows

No capacity is published, deliberately. The venue's own answer is “Whatever the size of your guest list and whatever theme you would like to embrace, Mount Mitchell offers varied locations around the property… You are only limited by your imagination.” The reception is a hired marquee, so the ceiling is the marquee's.
Nothing about a wedding is priced. The only dollar figures on the entire site are helicopter transfer rates — and they are marked valid until 30 June 2016, a decade expired. They are recorded as expired, not as pricing.
Two of the three accommodation options are on the estate; the third is not. Mt Mitchell Cottage and Mitchell House are on site. The Abode is thirty minutes away, near Moonambel — worth knowing before allocating guests to it.
You can fly in. The venue publishes a helicopter route from Melbourne City Heliport, roughly 45 minutes, through Microflite. Treat the rates as historical and ask.
It is a working farm and family-friendly — the venue talks about collecting eggs from the hen house and foraging the kitchen garden.
Distances matter here: 3 km from Lexton, 58 km from Ballarat, 23 km from Avoca, about 1¾ hours from Melbourne. Guest transport needs planning.

NOTHING ABOUT A WEDDING IS PRICED. There is no package price, per-head figure, venue hire fee, minimum spend or deposit anywhere on the site, and no PDF on the domain. The weddings page ends in a contact link: 'If you are looking for wedding reception venues for your upcoming day, contact us here at Mount Mitchell and let us help you plan your wedding, from design, theme, catering and finally ensuring the day runs perfectly from start to finish.'
THE ONLY DOLLAR FIGURES ON THE SITE ARE A DECADE OUT OF DATE, AND THE SITE SAYS SO ITSELF. From the About page, describing the Microflite helicopter service: 'A return flight from Melbourne City Helipad to Mount Mitchell is $2750 including GST for up to three passengers. For four or more passengers the cost is $795 per person, including GST. These rates are valid until 30th June 2016.' A stated validity window that closed **ten years ago** is the most expired published price encountered in this campaign - the previous worst was Beach Road's brochure, which lapsed one month before harvest (Batch 129). Recorded here as historical, and not used for any pricing field. The helicopter route itself is still worth knowing about: 'a range of helicopters with four, five or six seats in each, offering a 45-minute flight from Melbourne to Mount Mitchell, depending on the weather conditions.'
NO CAPACITY IS PUBLISHED AND THE VENUE FRAMES THAT AS FLEXIBILITY, NOT AN OMISSION: 'Do you host weddings at Mount Mitchell? Mount Mitchell and the surrounding grounds provide you with perfect wedding reception venue in the Pyrenees. Whatever the size of your guest list and whatever theme you would like to embrace, Mount Mitchell offers varied locations around the property for intimate wedding venues, garden wedding venues, marquees and more. You are only limited by your imagination.' Because the reception is a hired marquee on the lawn, the ceiling is set by the marquee rather than by a room, which is the same structure as Rawson Park (Batch 154) and Orchards at Spring Vale Farm in this region (Batch 121). venue_capacity is NULL rather than inferred.
ONE OF THE THREE ACCOMMODATION OPTIONS IS NOT ON THE PROPERTY. 'Mt Mitchell Cottage, Mitchell House and the nearby Abode are all available for overnight or longer stays' - but the accommodation page places the third elsewhere: 'The Abode property is located just five minutes from Moonambel and 30 minutes from Mount Mitchell.' A couple allocating guests needs that distinction; only the first two are on the estate.
CATERING IS OFFERED BUT UNDESCRIBED. The weddings page says the venue will help with 'design, theme, catering' but names no caterer, no menu and no dietary position anywhere on the site, so dietary_options_supported and price_per_head are both NULL.
DISTANCE IS THE PRACTICAL CONSTRAINT, AND THE VENUE PUBLISHES IT REPEATEDLY: 'Located just a two hour drive from Melbourne and only 58 kilometres from Ballarat and 23 kilometres from Avoca'; and from the FAQ, 'situated 3km from Lexton, which is located approximately 30 minutes north-west of Ballarat' and 'approximately one hour and 45 minutes' drive from Melbourne'.
REGION NOTE: Lexton sits in the Pyrenees, not in Ballarat proper. No Pyrenees region exists in this campaign's 62; Ballarat is the nearest by physical distance (58 km) and is the region the Batch 121 register already filed this lead under, so it is recorded there.
