Yuulong Estate
About
Overview & Vibe
A country estate at the foot of Mt Buninyong in Scotsburn, about twenty minutes south-east of Ballarat. Rolling lawns run down to a lake with a timber jetty, a brick homestead sits behind hedges, and the working heart of the place is a restored woolshed with exposed beams, festoon lighting and wine barrels.
Setting & Style
Three ceremony settings are named: by the lake, under a rustic arbour (four to choose from), or in the historic white church nearby — the Scotsburn Community Chapel. The reception goes in the woolshed or outdoors under festoon lighting, with the stables and gardens available for photographs.
Ideal For
Couples who want exclusive use of a whole rural property with a lake and a barn, and who want to choose between full catering or bringing their own depending on the package.
The Need-to-Knows
- Nothing is priced. Venue hire is “quoted based on event type, size and requirements”, and private events carry a minimum bar spend or an agreed bar tab.
- Catering depends on the package. Weddings are catered by Peter Rowland Group; the private-event and ceremony packages say “BYO catering and vendor flexibility welcome”.
- Up to 180 standing or 150 seated for a reception; the ceremony-only package says up to 200.
- Saturday ceremony-only bookings must finish by 2pm. Weekdays and Sundays are flexible.
- Pet-friendly and child-friendly, fully accessible, with heating and cooling in the barn and wet-weather options.
- Guests may leave cars overnight in the on-site car park — useful at a rural venue with no accommodation.
- No on-site accommodation is offered.
Standout Feature
Vows on the lake edge with Mt Buninyong behind, then dinner in a woolshed strung with festoon lights.

Price Notes
- NO PRICE OF ANY KIND APPEARS ON THE DOMAIN - no per-head rate, package price, venue hire fee, ceremony fee or minimum spend figure, and NO PDF is linked anywhere. Every package is quoted: 'Venue hire is quoted based on event type, size and requirements' (private events) and 'Quoted based on guest size and event requirements' (ceremony and elopement). The wedding package carries no pricing statement at all.
- ONE COMMITMENT IS STATED WITHOUT A NUMBER: 'All private events require a minimum bar spend or agreed bar tab.' That is a real condition with an unpublished value - worth raising at first enquiry.
- CATERING DIFFERS BY PACKAGE, WHICH IS UNUSUAL AND MATTERS. Weddings are catered: 'Premium catering by Peter Rowland Group, proudly delivering exceptional weddings and events since 1962' with 'Tailored menu design with a range of cocktail, shared-feast, plated, and bespoke dining options.' But the private-event package and the ceremony/elopement package both say 'BYO catering and vendor flexibility welcome.' NO MENU AND NO DIETARY INFORMATION IS PUBLISHED for either route, so dietary_options_supported is NULL as not-published (§73).
- THE FULL WEDDING PACKAGE INCLUSION LIST IS LONG AND SPECIFIC: 'Event manager and on-the-day wedding coordinator. Early access and late finish (including time for vendors and caterers). Full cleaning and general pack-down support. Exclusive use of the property for the day. Ceremony setup with chairs and your choice of four arbours. Rustic trestle tables and chairs provided for the reception. Access to the stables and gardens for bridal party photos. Portable outdoor bar for cocktail hour or additional bar service. Projector and screen available for speeches. Microphone and PA system included for reception. Outdoor furniture, restroom facilities and antique freshen-up station. White napkins provided, along with a tea and coffee station. Wine barrels available for signing table, cake display or decor.'
- A HARD TIME LIMIT ON THE CHEAPEST PRODUCT: 'A relaxed 2 or 3 hour experience for your perfect "I do" moment. Please note: Saturday bookings must conclude by 2pm. Weekday and Sunday bookings offer flexibility with available timeframes.' The private event package is a '(5 Hour Package)'.
- ACCESS AND COMFORT ARE SPELLED OUT: 'Pet-friendly and child-friendly venue - with accessible and wet-weather options available. Fully accessible venue - accessible restrooms can be arranged upon request. Large onsite car park - guests may leave vehicles overnight. Heating and cooling available in the barn. Power access available for multiple vendors.'
- THE CATERING PARTNERSHIP IS THE VENUE'S HEADLINE AND IS RECENT: 'Now proudly partnered with Peter Rowland Group, one of Australia's most respected catering and events companies since 1962.' Checked against rule 8 and Q2: Peter Rowland is a catering company, not a venue group, and the estate's own site carries every value recorded here - spaces, capacities, inclusions, address, its own email and its own coordinator. This is the Tellurian shape (B184), not the Waterton Hall shape.
- THE CONTACT PAGE CARRIES TWO SEPARATE CONTACT BLOCKS AND THEY DISAGREE (§64). One reads 'Email Us... cs@peterrowland.com.au. Call Us Phone: 03-9825-0000. Wedding Coordinator: Ashlee: 0400 951 205. Owners: Charlie: 0447 710 374, Lizzie: 0407 864 733.' The other reads 'Email Us... events@yuulongestate.com.au. Call Us 0405 631 219. Owner: Charlie: 0447 710 374, Lizzie: 0407 864 733 (Kirsty Maxwell - Event Manager & Wedding Coordinator).' TWO DIFFERENT NAMED COORDINATORS, two emails and two phone numbers. The estate's own address and number are recorded; the caterer's are noted here.
- THE SITE IS NEW. Every image in the media library is dated August 2025 or later, the footer reads '© 2026 Yuulong Estate', and the home page says 'Bookings for 2026 and 2027 are now open, with prime dates filling quickly.' This is why four earlier Ballarat sweeps found nothing under this name.
- NO ON-SITE ACCOMMODATION IS OFFERED - no accommodation page exists and none of the three packages mentions beds. The overnight-parking inclusion implies guests travel in and out.
- NO STRUCTURED PRICING DATA and no ld+json offer objects.
