Omari Bendigo
About
Overview & Vibe
Omari sits inside the Bendigo Botanic Gardens at White Hills — a modern timber-and-glass pavilion on the edge of a small lake, working as an all-day café and restaurant during the week and a wedding venue on top of it. The building is new: it was rebuilt after a fire destroyed the venue in 2024, which is why everything in it is current rather than heritage.
Setting & Style
Floor-to-ceiling glass on three sides, a slatted timber deck over the water, native planting and gums right up to the windows. Four bookable spaces: the Café & Restaurant (190 cocktail), Larni — a clean-lined room that splits in two with a soundproof retractable wall (80 seated / 150 cocktail whole, 32 / 50 halved), The Deck (120 cocktail, open-air), and Intimate Affair, a private dining room for 10–40.
Ideal For
Couples who want a garden wedding without leaving town, at any size from ten people at one table to a hundred and ninety standing — and who want the ceremony in the Botanic Gardens themselves.
The Need-to-Knows
- Ceremonies happen on the deck or in the gardens — “Say ‘I do’ on our garden-fringed deck or right within the Bendigo Botanic Gardens.” The gardens are public land run by the City of Greater Bendigo, so a ceremony there is arranged separately from the venue.
- No pricing of any kind is published. No per-head figure, room hire, minimum spend or package appears anywhere on the site, and there is no wedding PDF — the only document on the domain is the café's Spring/Summer menu. Everything runs through an event enquiry form.
- Dietary requirements are stated plainly, which is rarer than it should be: “Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options available”, and a menu “that caters to all tastes and dietary needs”.
- The four spaces are very different sizes, so the room decides the wedding here more than at most venues. Larni is the only one that seats a real number (80) — the 190 and 150 figures are standing.
- The café trades Wednesday to Sunday, 8am to 3pm. Weddings sit outside those hours; worth confirming what an evening reception involves.
- Every space is described as fully accessible, and the venue is dog-friendly and family-friendly in normal trade.
Standout Feature
A deck over a lake inside a botanic garden — and a venue rebuilt from a fire two years ago, so the room you get married in is brand new.

Price Notes
- NO PRICING IS PUBLISHED ANYWHERE ON THE SITE. There is no per-head figure, room hire fee, package price, minimum spend or deposit on the weddings page, the functions page or anywhere else, and no wedding brochure exists. Every space ends with the same word - 'Enquire' - and the site routes to an event enquiry form. The only PDF on the domain is the cafe's '2025-2026 SPRING SUMMER MENU' (Canva ModDate 26 October 2025, HTTP Last-Modified 26 October 2025), which prices scones at $12.00 and croissants at $8.50 and has nothing to do with weddings. It was read and not used.
- WHAT IS PUBLISHED INSTEAD IS THE ROOM-BY-ROOM DETAIL, AND IT IS UNUSUALLY PRECISE. Cafe & Restaurant: 190 cocktail, exclusive use, full-service bar, ducted heating and cooling, garden and water views, exclusive use of the deck, fully accessible. Larni: 80 seated or 150 cocktail whole; 32 seated or 50 cocktail halved; private entry, pop-up bar, 'divided into two separate spaces using a soundproof retractable wall'. The Deck: 120 cocktail, open-air, pop-up bar. Intimate Affair: 10-40 guests, private dining, flexible menu options.
- THE CEREMONY MAY BE ON PUBLIC LAND. 'Say "I do" on our garden-fringed deck or right within the Bendigo Botanic Gardens.' The Bendigo Botanic Gardens at White Hills are run by the City of Greater Bendigo, so a ceremony held in the gardens rather than on the venue's deck is a separate arrangement with the council. The venue does not say so, and it is worth asking before assuming the ceremony site comes with the reception.
- THE VENUE IS TWO YEARS OLD BECAUSE IT BURNED DOWN: 'After a challenging rebuild following a 2024 venue fire, Omari has re-emerged stronger than ever, focused on great service, community connection, and celebrating everything Bendigo has to offer.' That explains why the rooms, the deck and the fit-out are all new, and it is the venue's own account.
- TRADING HOURS ARE CAFE HOURS, NOT EVENT HOURS: 'All-day cafe, restaurant, and event venue nestled in the Bendigo Botanic Gardens. Serving fresh, house-made food, regional wines, and handcrafted cocktails, Wednesday to Sunday from 8am to 3pm.' An evening reception sits outside published trade and is worth confirming.
- THE VENUE ALSO RUNS A BUSY PUBLIC EVENTS PROGRAM - bottomless brunches, drag events, 'Omari After Dark' dinners, workshops and seasonal events - so exclusivity and date availability are worth checking early. It is 'Part of AC & JR Group Pty Ltd', though omaribendigo.com.au is the venue's own single-property domain.
- IT SELLS THE DAY AFTER AS WELL AS THE DAY: 'Post-Wedding Brunches & Hens Parties - Celebrate in style with a relaxed post-wedding brunch or casual hens party at Omari Bendigo. Our light-filled cafe and garden deck are perfect for bridal brunches, toasts, and lingering laughs.'
