Whitby Eatery & Events
About
Overview & Vibe
Whitby sits on the edge of Lake Weeroona in Bendigo, a five-minute walk from the centre of town, and is the venue Bendigo couples have known for years as The Boardwalk — same owner, same team, rebranded. It is an all-day eatery that becomes a wedding venue after dark, and the whole pitch is the water: long windows, a deck out over the lake and a sunset that does most of the styling for you.
Setting & Style
Relaxed and contemporary rather than formal — polished concrete floors, festoon lights, plenty of greenery and an uninterrupted view across Lake Weeroona. The space is described as one that can be transformed to suit any wedding style, and there is a separate private dining room for small gatherings at breakfast, brunch and lunch. The deck is where guests end up: past couples describe it as the only place to be on a warm night.
Ideal For
Couples who want a relaxed in-town reception with a view and a team that runs it end to end — and cocktail weddings in particular, since the room takes a good deal more standing than seated.
The Need-to-Knows
- Up to 90 guests for a sit-down wedding, 150 or more for cocktail style.
- Exclusive use is available after 5pm, Thursday to Saturday only. This is a working seven-day eatery, so a daytime wedding is not on offer; the venue clears and turns over for the evening.
- No pricing is published. Wedding packages exist but are released only through an email-capture form — you give a name and email address, and the packages arrive as a download. Nothing priced is visible on the site, and the food menu is published as images rather than text.
- A dedicated Wedding and Event Coordinator is named on the page and handles planning, menu selection and running the night.
- The venue changed its name. It traded as The Boardwalk Bendigo and is now Whitby Eatery & Events; the older domain still serves the site and points at the new one. Reviews and photographs under both names describe the same building and the same owner.
- The eatery is open seven days for breakfast, brunch and lunch, dogs are welcome on the al fresco deck, and day-to-day bookings run through OpenTable.
Standout Feature
A deck over Lake Weeroona at sunset, five minutes from the middle of Bendigo.

Price Notes
- NO PRICING IS PUBLISHED ON THIS SITE, AND THE PACKAGES ARE DELIBERATELY GATED. The wedding page carries a block headed 'Download Whitby's Wedding Packages' with First Name, Last Name and Email Address fields and the line 'Let's party! Click here to recieve our Wedding Packages directly to your downloads folder.' The packages are released only in exchange for contact details. No figure appears anywhere on the public pages - a scan of the wedding page returned no currency values at all - and no PDF is linked. The packages were therefore not obtained.
- THE FOOD MENU IS PUBLISHED AS IMAGES, NOT TEXT. The eatery menu page carries only the framing copy - 'Whitby's seasonal menu celebrates the region's finest produce, offers an incredible coffee blend and boasts a delightful list of cocktails' - with the menu itself served as image blocks, so no dish prices or dietary markings are readable. There is also a K9 Katering dog menu.
- WHAT IS PUBLISHED INSTEAD OF PRICE: exclusive use of the venue for a wedding is available after 5pm from Thursday to Saturday (6pm for non-wedding events), and a dedicated Wedding and Event Coordinator handles 'planning to menu selection to on-the-night support'. Small private celebrations can be hosted in the private dining room across breakfast, brunch and lunch.
- STRUCTURED DATA CARRIES NO PRICING. The only JSON-LD block on the wedding page is a bare WebSite object with a url, name and logo image - no Offer, no priceRange, no address.
