Dress Experience

Couture Creations by Courtney is a made-to-measure and alterations studio in North Geelong, Victoria, run by Courtney Mason and previously trading as Miss Nee Creations. Raised in country south-west Victoria, she discovered sewing in secondary school textiles and designed a Year 12 gown inspired by the endangered Mission Blue Butterfly, hand-dyed, embellished and wired to represent the butterfly's wings and habitat, which took top marks and won the 2012 Student Spotlight Design Awards. She completed an Advanced Diploma of Applied Fashion Design and Technology at The Gordon, graduating in 2015 as Most Outstanding Student, then moved to Melbourne to work in a dance and costume fabric store, which led to a Costume Assistant role on the television series Wentworth and subsequent work across several Australian film and television costume departments. She launched her own business to make garments for clients alongside costume work, and in June 2019 attended the Paris American Academy's summer school to refine couture technique, corsetry and bustiers. On returning she was approached by Embrace Bridal Boutique to be their recommended alterations specialist. The studio makes custom bridal, debutante, formal and special occasion wear and costumes for dance, film and television, and the majority of its alterations work is bridal and bridesmaid gowns.
