Hayley Maree Bridal is a designer’s own boutique on Barkly Street in Ararat, at the eastern door of the Grampians. What makes it unusual is that the gowns are its own label every Hayley Maree dress is handcrafted to order at the studio’s Australian atelier in Wallan, Victoria, rather than ordered in from overseas. It is open by appointment, so the boutique is yours while you are in it.
Dress Styles & Designers
The Hayley Maree collection runs to seventeen named gowns — Liana, Aurora, Celeste, Juliet, Elizabeth and the limited-edition Ivy among them — alongside stocked labels Stella York, All Who Wander, Tania Olsen, Luna Delila and Brydealo. There are debutante gowns and veils too.

A bride who wants something made for her rather than picked off a rail, and who is planning far enough ahead to allow it. It also suits a bride who is a split size the studio will order bust, waist and hip in different sizes on some styles for an extra charge, which is rare and genuinely useful. Sizes run 8 to 24, and there is a bespoke made-to-measure service at the Wallan studio.
The Need-to-Knows
Allow at least six months, and many brides order twelve months out. Production starts the moment your deposit is paid and your size and length are chosen — and the size cannot be changed after that, so take your measurements carefully against the size chart. The balance is due before the gown ships, and instalments can be arranged. A rush service is sometimes possible if the fabric is available, for a fee, but it must be confirmed before you order. Alterations are not included leave time and budget for them.
Standout Feature
The person who designs the gown owns the shop. In a town of 8,000 that is an unusual thing to be able to say: the Hayley Maree label is made in Victoria, and the boutique that sells it is the label’s own. If you want a change made, you are talking to the people who will make it — and the split-sizing option means a gown can be built to a body that does not match a chart.
