It was “started by two mumtrepreneurs… opened within an open-space warehouse, carefully located to capture the exquisite feel of a cosy, modern boutique”, and the open-warehouse format is the whole proposition: one of the largest gown collections in Melbourne, at a price the store describes as a “boutique warehouse with small price tag”.

Dress Styles & Designers

An official stockist of Enzoani, Fiore Couture, Callista Bridal, Wildflower by Malachi, Sophia Tolli, Enchanting and J’dore Evening. The rack runs to 114 named gowns sorted by shape and fabric — A-line, ballgown, fit and flare and mermaid through satin, crepe, organza and 3D floral lace — with a dedicated Belle Curve range.

Ideal For

The bride who wants to see a lot of dresses in one visit rather than a curated handful, and who is shopping to a budget. Sizes on the floor run 6 to 26, with newer styles stocked 12 to 18, so plus-size brides can try the gown rather than imagine it. Also for anyone marrying soon: floor samples go home the same day.

The Need-to-Knows

Gowns run $1,000 to $8,000, set by detail, length and size. Individual gowns are not priced online.
Appointments only, half an hour to an hour, one guest. Bring nude underwear, a strapless bra and any shapewear you plan to wear on the day.
Order 10 months to a year ahead. A new order takes six to eight months to arrive; the more beading and embroidery, the longer. A rush order is possible for a fee.
Half down on a special order, the balance on pick-up. Floor samples are paid in full up front.
Alterations are not done in store — allow about a month with your own seamstress, sometimes more.

Standout Feature

Scale at the bottom of the market. Very few Melbourne boutiques carry this many gowns, and fewer still start at $1,000 — and the same racks are available in regional Queensland, which is unusual for a Melbourne store.

Appointments run half an hour to an hour, with one guest.
Bring nude underwear and a strapless bra, and wear any shapewear you plan to wear on the day. Bring pictures of gowns you would like to try.
Maribyrnong is open Monday to Sunday, 10am to 5pm. Thabeban is open Monday to Friday 10am to 2pm and Saturday to Sunday 10am to 5pm.

It was started by two mothers who set out to make gown shopping feel less transactional: "We thrive in minimising the transactional feel of getting a dress; instead, we strive for a more personalised experience and more innovative solutions for all brides."
Appointments are one-on-one with a stylist and cover the whole look: "Once you have chosen your gown, our expert consultants will assist you in choosing your veil, shoes and even jewellery." If you are not comfortable with your consultant you can ask for a manager and be seen by someone else.
The store keeps its full rack photographed and online, so you can narrow the shortlist before you come in.

A special order takes a 50% deposit, with the balance paid when you collect the gown. A floor sample is paid in full up front.

Order 10 months to a year ahead. Once placed, a gown arrives in about six to eight months, and heavier beading or embroidery takes longer.
A rush order is available for an additional fee if your date is sooner than that.
A floor sample can be bought as close as two months out, but allow a month or more for alterations, which are not done in store.
