Bonita Couture is a couture bridal house on Sydney Road in Brunswick, Melbourne’s long-standing bridal strip. It is run by designer Elide and works by appointment only — a studio where gowns are designed and made, not a shop floor you browse.
Dress Styles & Designers
Everything is Bonita Couture’s own label, released as named collections — Aphrodite, Paradiso and Amore Divino for bridal, with a separate evening range. The look is structured and detailed: heavy lace, illusion backs and sleeves, fitted silhouettes and full-skirted ball gowns, with satin and tulle overskirts.
Ideal For
A bride who wants a gown made for her rather than chosen off a rail. Bonita’s own line is that a gown “can be tailored to suit you, or we can create something special together” — so it suits both a bride adapting an existing design and one starting from nothing.
The Need-to-Knows
Appointments only — call 0431 484 655 or email to book a private fitting. As is usual for couture, expect to be quoted after the first consultation, once the design and fabrics are settled. Allow the months a made-to-measure gown needs, and ask at the first appointment how many fittings are included.
Standout Feature
One designer, from sketch to final fitting. A bride’s own published note about her gown — “it fit me perfectly all over… the dress went above and beyond my expectations” — is about a piece made for her from scratch.
