Wedding Photographers · Melbourne, Victoria
Lavan Photography is a Melbourne team shooting weddings and wedding film together, working from Ashburton across the city and five Victorian regions. The tone they set is unhurried and unposed — their own words are that the day should flow while they stay out of the way of it. Sixty-six weddings are published in full on their site, from rooftop receptions in the city to a beach ceremony on the Great Ocean Road.
They describe their photography as relaxed and spontaneous, modern and natural, blending art with photojournalism. Light is worked as they find it: candid moments in naturally lit settings, with an unobtrusive habit meant to catch real expressions rather than arranged ones. The result is aimed at being timeless rather than of a particular year.
Couples who want photography and film from one team and would rather not brief two suppliers. It suits anyone marrying outside the city too — the Yarra Valley, Geelong and the Bellarine, the Mornington Peninsula, the Dandenong Ranges, Daylesford and the Macedon Ranges all carry published weddings. Intimate celebrations are catered for separately, and same-sex weddings are a stated specialty with three published stories of their own.
Photography starts at $2,200 and film at $2,600, both GST inclusive, and booking the two together takes $400 off. Images arrive edited in high and low resolution with no watermark and no restriction on printing or sharing, alongside a keepsake box of prints, a wooden USB and an online gallery that stays open for six months. A second photographer is $150 an hour and albums begin at $650. No number of hours is quoted, and no delivery time is stated.
The published portfolio is unusually deep for a studio of this size: sixty-six complete weddings, most running past a hundred frames, so a couple can see an entire day at their own venue rather than a curated handful. They also photographed the 2016 Brownlow Medallist’s wedding.
