Mike Atchison is a Geelong local who has been photographing weddings since 2018 and went full-time in 2025 — 120 weddings and counting, and named the top wedding photographer for the Geelong and Surf Coast region at the 2025 Australian Wedding Industry Awards. Most of his work happens between Geelong, the Bellarine Peninsula and the Surf Coast: olive grove ceremonies at Mount Duneed Estate, rustic celebrations at Rocklea Farm, beach days at Barwon Heads and sky-high receptions in Torquay.
Calm and natural is how he puts it, and the frames match: guests laughing on the dance floor, confetti in the aisle, a father’s face at the ceremony, couples in paddocks and vineyards at golden hour. He guides just enough to keep people comfortable and will not ask anyone to repeat a moment for the camera. Black-and-white sits alongside warm colour, and the reception coverage runs well past the formalities.
Couples around Geelong, the Bellarine and the Surf Coast who want the day recorded as it actually happened rather than staged. He says plainly that anyone wanting heavy direction and constant posing is probably not a fit, which is a useful thing to know before enquiring. Every package includes travel up to 100 kilometres from Geelong, so Ballarat, Melbourne and the Otways all sit inside the standard rate.
Packages start at $2,500 and there are three of them, with the full pricing guide sent by email after an enquiry naming a date. A $750 deposit and a signed contract lock the date in, then two progress payments follow before the wedding rather than one large bill. Albums are not included in the package price and start at $1,200; ceremony videography is available at $450 and arrives alongside the photographs. Peak dates go 12 to 18 months ahead.
The 21-day delivery guarantee, backed with money. The full gallery arrives within 21 days or the couple receives a $500 credit towards an album or wall art — a rare thing to put in writing in a trade where six- to eight-week waits are normal — and next-day sneak peeks land long before that.
