Lyn's Bridal & Formal Alterations
About
Overview & Vibe
Lynette Wilson has been a couture dressmaker for over fifty years. She built her name across Bayside Melbourne as Linze Couture, retired in 2015, and — in her own words — couldn’t put the scissors down. She now works by appointment from a private studio in Tyabb on the Mornington Peninsula, doing the fine work: reshaping, rebuilding and finishing other people’s gowns, and making new ones to measure. Her dog Bonnie will meet you at the door.
Dress Styles & Designers
Lyn does not sell a label — she alters and makes. Bridal work covers reshaping through the bust, waist and hips, hems, bustles, sleeves, straps and neckline changes, lace and beadwork, corsetry and bodice support, and invisible zips. She adds veils, detachable trains, overskirts and modesty panels. For made-to-measure she takes you through design, fabric and fittings with couture finishing.
Ideal For
A bride whose gown needs more than a hem — and particularly one whose dress is too small. Lyn builds in panels, lacing and design-true inserts so the alteration reads as part of the original. She states plainly that she works with all sizes, shapes, genders and ages, and that everyone deserves to feel incredible in their clothes.
The Need-to-Knows
By appointment only, from the Tyabb studio. Phone 0407 090 955. She covers the Peninsula from Mornington and Mount Eliza down to Dromana and Rosebud, and back up through Bayside Melbourne to Sandringham and Black Rock. No prices are published — you are quoted at the consultation, which is normal for alterations because the work depends on the gown.
Standout Feature
She was an ABIA Wedding Industry Awards finalist in 2005, an award whose finalists must clear 95% customer satisfaction. Her own account of the craft is the giveaway: hours run into the early morning hand-sewing beads and perfecting details on gowns she designed. That is the same hand now doing the alterations.
