Lucky Bay Brewing
About
Overview & Vibe
Lucky Bay Brewing is a working craft brewery on Bandy Creek Road, eight kilometres from Esperance, between the Kepwari wetlands and Wylie Bay. It has been brewing since 2015 and moved to this site in 2019, and it hires the whole place out for weddings — open, rustic and unpretentious, with the tanks still running behind the bar.
Setting & Style
The signature space is the brew house: a self-supporting curved roof, locally crafted timber throughout and a large fireplace for winter. Outside there is a big grassed area, a semi-private function garden used for ceremonies, an undercover verandah, a mobile beer caravan bar and a crafted open fire pit. A star marquee can be put up in the function garden. Long tables, oak wine barrels and an antique display cabinet come with the venue.
Ideal For
Couples who want a relaxed Esperance wedding with good beer at the centre of it, and who are comfortable bringing in their own caterer.
The Need-to-Knows
- The brewery holds a limited number of licence extensions to trade past 9:30pm. Its own words: “so get in quick.” A late reception is not guaranteed by booking the venue — it depends on an extension being available for your date. This is the first thing to ask.
- Capacities are generous for the region: 100 seated inside, 120 seated under the verandah, 200 standing across verandah, lawn and function garden, and 86 seated or 120 standing in the star marquee.
- Outside catering is welcome, but BYO alcohol is not permitted. It is a brewery — the drinks come from the house, the food need not.
- Current pricing is not published. The venue directs couples to its event coordinator for the latest wedding brochure. An older package document from 2021 is still reachable on the server but is no longer linked from any page and is explicitly superseded, so no figures have been taken from it.
- Included with venue hire when booked: brewery furniture and placement, beverage staff, glassware, gift and cake tables, PA and microphone. Furniture is updated over time — the venue says to ask what is current.
- It is an active production brewery with a cellar door open to the public, so a private function in the garden runs alongside normal trade at peak times unless the whole venue is hired.
Standout Feature
A curved-roof brew house with the beer made on site, and a function garden that takes a star marquee — eight kilometres from Esperance.

Price Notes
- CURRENT PRICING IS NOT PUBLISHED. The venue hire page ends: 'Please contact our Event Coordinator, Maree, to receive the latest wedding/ event brochure and to plan your special event at Lucky Bay Brewing.' No figure of any kind appears on the live site.
- AN OLDER PRICED DOCUMENT EXISTS AND WAS DELIBERATELY NOT USED FOR PRICING. A file named WEDDING-PACKAGE-JAN2021-EMAIL.pdf still resolves on the server with a Last-Modified date of 29 October 2023, and it does contain ceremony and reception hire rates. It fails the currency test three ways: it is titled 'WEDDING PACKAGE 2021', it is more than two years old on any reading of its dates, and - decisively - it is NOT LINKED FROM ANY PAGE of the current site, while the live page directs couples to obtain 'the latest' brochure from the coordinator. Under the supersession test this is a superseded document that happens to remain reachable, so no rate, deposit or hire figure has been taken from it.
- STRUCTURAL FACTS FROM THAT DOCUMENT DO STAND, per the standing rule that staleness kills prices rather than descriptions. Recorded from it: the guest capacities; the ceremony inclusions of private function garden, signing table, power supply, oak wine barrels, PA and microphone with star marquee and garden bar additional; the reception inclusions of exclusive use, brewery furniture and placement, beverage staff, glassware, gift and cake table, PA and microphone; and the operating conditions below.
- LICENSING IS THE REAL CONSTRAINT: 'Due to licensing restrictions, Lucky Bay Brewery is only allocated a limited number of license extensions to trade past 9.30pm, so get in quick!' A reception running late depends on an extension being available for the date, not on the booking.
- IT IS A WORKING BREWERY: 'Please note we are an active production brewery with cellar door open to the public. Private functions can be accommodated in the private function garden during peak times.' Setup access is from 4pm - 'Close for setup @4pm, additional fees apply for earlier closing of venue.'
- DRINKS AND CATERING: 'No BYO is permitted' and 'specific wines and other beverages can be negotiated on request'; the brewery stocks its own beers plus local and regional wines and Bridgetown cider. Outside catering is welcomed. Optional extras listed in the older document included marquee hire and setup, food wait staff, matching table and chair hire, bench seats, crockery and cutlery, and a tea and coffee station - all unpriced here for the reason above.
- FURNITURE INCLUDED WITH HIRE, as listed: an antique display cabinet, 3 oak wine barrels, 4 large rustic wooden tables seating 10, 6 bench seats, 6 wooden standing island tables, 20 brown leather bar stools, 4 couches, 4 armchairs, a coffee table, 2 gas space heaters and 5 radiant wall heaters inside. The venue notes 'furniture is often updated, please ask us about current options.'
