The yacht club sits on the Esplanade in the middle of Esperance, looking straight out over the Bay of Isles. It is a working sailing club that hires its two function rooms out, and it publishes every rate it charges — room hire, kitchen, bar staff by the hour and day of the week, cleaning, projector, late licence and bond. For a town where almost nothing is priced online, that is the whole point of it.

The Need-to-Knows

Every charge is published. Ocean Room $815 for a major function; ‘Esplanade’ Room $505, or $200 for a minor hire of under 30 guests for three hours. Commercial kitchen $180, cleaning staff $54/hour, bar staff $45 weekday / $49 Saturday / $53 Sunday, projector and screen $70, tea and coffee $44, late licence $250.
If there is alcohol, the hirer must be a member. A non-sailing associate membership is a $57 nomination fee plus $180 a year; the hire agreement bills it as $237. This is a real, unavoidable step, not a formality.
Absolutely no BYO. All liquor must be supplied and controlled by the licensee, and “$500.00 Bond/Deposit will be retained by EBYC from any non-compliant functions.”
Hire is on a “bareboat charter” basis — the room comes clean and in its default set-up and must be put back that way, and the clock runs from first access until the premises are clean and reinstated, not from when your guests arrive.
$500 bond, refundable, and refundable on cancellation only if you cancel at least 30 days out. The balance is due seven days after the function.
Catering is yours to arrange — yourself or a commercial caterer — and using the club galley adds $180.
House rules worth knowing: no candles, no hooks in the walls, nothing removed from the walls, no pegs or poles in the lawn, no vehicles on the lawn or front paving, and tables and chairs are free but may not go outside.

Venue hire is freely available by contract of agreement but where the provision and consumption of alcohol is involved, the premises are only available for hire to financial members. No BYO, enforced with the bond: 'All alcohol served on the licensed premises, (which includes the outdoor areas surrounding the main building) must, by law, be supplied and controlled by the licensee. The 'bareboat charter' basis changes what you are paying for: 'Hires operate on a "bareboat charter" basis. The venue is made available clean and in its default set-up and it is a specific condition of hire that it must be re-instated to that condition on completion.' And crucially: 'The duration of a hire, and hence the charges to be applied, will be from the time that first access to the premises is required, until the time that the premises are clean, reinstated and available for use by the club or any subsequent hirer.' Catering is the hirer's own arrangement: it can be undertaken by yourselves or by commercial caterers, and where the galley facilities are used there is an additional hire charge of $180 to allow for in your catering budget.
No seated or standing capacity is published for either room. The only guest number given is a hire threshold — the Esplanade Room's minor-hire tier covers fewer than 30 guests for three hours — which sets a rate rather than a room size, so ask for the capacities when you enquire.
House rules from the conditions of hire: 'No vehicles are to be driven on to the lawn or the paving in front of the building. This includes Caterers / Party planners etc.' 'Club tables and chairs are available for Hirer's use at no extra cost. Tables and Chairs are not to be put outside, and all chairs and tables are to be returned to the original positions.' 'Hirer is permitted (in consultation with the Club Manager) to decorate the premises... provided all decorations/equipment/furniture are completely removed by the Hirer with no damage.' 'No hooks are to be used, and nothing is to be removed from the walls (photos, honour boards etc.) No candles are to be used, No Poles, Pegs Etc to be inserted in any Lawns area.'
The hire agreements are current, headed 2026–2027. Note the venue's own filing quirk: the agreement named for the Esplanade Room is titled Ocean Room inside, so check you have the one you mean.
