Emily has run Colourful Creations Photography in Canberra for more than fifteen years, and the name is meant literally. Her guiding quotation is Kandinsky’s — “Colour is a power which directly influences the soul” — and the work leans into it: garden ceremonies, orchard portraits, marquee receptions under a bright Canberra sky.
She describes her wedding photography as emotive, colourful and classic. In practice that means a lot of warmth and movement, guests caught mid-laugh, and couples given room to be affectionate rather than arranged. Rain does not appear to faze her; some of the strongest frames are umbrella shots.
Couples who want colour rather than muted tones, and who like the idea of a photographer who has been doing this long enough to be unflappable. Collections run from a short elopement through to a full day, so it suits small weddings as readily as large ones. She also travels interstate and overseas.
Collections begin at one thousand eight hundred dollars for an elopement or small wedding with up to three hours of coverage, and the next tier is two thousand five hundred for five hours plus a framed eight by ten print. Booking runs through an obligation-free consultation over Zoom, then a deposit and a signed photography agreement. A sneak peek arrives within a few days of the wedding.
The finish. Prints, canvases and photo books are part of the offer rather than an afterthought, chosen at a viewing appointment or through an online gallery — for a photographer who talks about colour this much, it makes sense that she wants the work on a wall.
