About

Overview & Vibe

A florist on Keppel Street in the middle of Bathurst, tucked into the same building as DeJorja & Co and its cafe. The name comes from the original owner’s two great-grandmothers, Florence Darmody and Grace Bishop. Fresh and dried work sit side by side here, alongside giftware and artwork by local artists, and the team is in constant contact with its growers so that what goes into an arrangement is what is genuinely good that week.

Style & Signature Blooms

Two clear directions, both done well. All-white and formal means white roses, phalaenopsis orchids and minimal foliage; relaxed and rustic means lisianthus, cottage-style roses and eucalyptus. Then there is the dried work, which is the real signature - pampas and bleached palm ceremony installations, dried buttonholes, and neutral bouquets that keep for years and can be reused at home. Peonies are offered honestly, with the warning that they only come in the cooler months.

Ideal For

Couples marrying anywhere across the Central West who want a florist that has already worked their venue. The gallery is titled by couple and by place - Mayfield Vineyard, Hillandale Garden at Yetholme, Greens on William, Boxgrove, Mount Rankin, Waldara, Phillip Shaw, Oberon - so it is easy to see the work in the setting. Equally suited to anyone drawn to dried florals, which few studios in the region do at this scale.

The Need-to-Knows

Weddings are quoted individually; there is no package price, starting figure or minimum published anywhere. Enquiries go through the form, after which the studio makes contact to set an appointment in person or by phone. Retail delivery runs within ten kilometres of the Bathurst post office at a fixed fee, further afield by arrangement, with Oberon covered on Tuesdays. Open Wednesday to Friday 9 to 5, Monday, Tuesday and Saturday 9 to 2, closed Sunday.

Standout Feature

Rare frankness about money. Rather than upselling, the studio offers to move ceremony pieces across to the reception for couples on a tighter budget, and says plainly that it will tell you where florals would work best and where it honestly thinks they are not needed. Coming from a florist, that is worth more than a discount.

Appointment Policy

  • Wedding enquiries start with the enquiry form; the studio then makes contact to set an appointment time, either in person or over the phone.
  • Everyday orders and quotes can be made by calling 02 6331 5554 and pressing 2 for the florist.
  • The studio is open Wednesday to Friday 9am to 5pm and Monday, Tuesday and Saturday 9am to 2pm, and is closed on Sunday.
  • Couples are encouraged to bring their palette and favourite blooms to the conversation, and to expect a discussion about what is genuinely in season for their date.
