Liam Foster is a Blue Mountains wedding photographer who works on film — not as a novelty, but as the way he was taught and the way he still prefers. He has lived in the mountains for around twenty years and works from Springwood, and he has deliberately narrowed what he takes on: elopements, micro weddings and smaller celebrations rather than large all-day affairs.
Style & Approach
He sums his own style up as laid-back. He does not pose couples or put them in awkward positions; he gives gentle direction and then lets the day happen, on the view that everybody looks good when they are relaxed and having fun. He shoots 35mm and 120mm film on analogue cameras, including bodies from the 1980s, and says the slowness is the point — every frame has to count.
