About

Overview & Vibe

Keegan Cronin photographs weddings from the Hunter Valley, where he has worked in the region for a decade and behind a camera for well over that. He studied art and graphic design at university before turning to weddings, and he now limits himself to around thirty-five celebrations a year, down from the seventy or more he once took on, so that each one keeps his full attention. His work has been recognised as Australasia’s Wedding Photographer of the Year by Capture Magazine, in the single capture category of the International Wedding Photographer of the Year awards, and among Rangefinder Magazine’s rising stars.

Style & Approach

He describes his approach as documentary photography with an eye for detail, blending candid coverage of real moments with a touch of editorial flair for the posed frames when the time is right. Most of the day he spends quietly observing and letting couples be themselves; when he does step in to guide a portrait there is no pressure and no right or wrong way to do it. What he is after are the raw emotions and the intimate in-between moments, so that the pictures carry back how the day actually felt.

Ideal For

Couples marrying among the vineyards, estates and heritage venues of the Hunter Valley who want a photographer with local knowledge of the light and the grounds. His pacing suits people who would rather spend the day with their guests than in front of a camera, and he is equally at home with an intimate elopement or a large celebration, travelling internationally on request.

The Need-to-Knows

Wedding packages run at six, eight and ten hours with custom options, and elopements come in half and full day forms for twenty guests or fewer. A non-refundable booking fee and a signed agreement secure a date, and he books as far as two years ahead on a first-come basis without holding dates. Galleries arrive in about four to six weeks, longer in the busiest part of the year, at roughly eighty to a hundred images for every hour of coverage; raw or unedited files are not supplied. He carries five camera bodies and ample lenses and cards as backup.

Standout Feature

The albums are the part he is most invested in. His background as a graphic designer means he designs each one himself, working through the layout with the couple rather than handing over a template, and he names it as his favourite part of the whole process.
