One of Mudgee's oldest vineyards, ten minutes from town on Hill End Road. Grapes went in at Burnbrae in 1968 and winemaking started in 1974, under an open-air roof beneath peppercorn trees that are still standing. The cellar door is an old dance hall that was trucked down from Sally's Flat and converted. The tone is deliberately unbuttoned — the winery's own summary is “good wine, good food and good times”.

Setting & Style

A working vineyard with lawns you can spread out on. Weddings use a choice of spots across the property rather than one fixed room, seated or cocktail. The venue's own photographs show long trestle tables strung with festoon lights under the trees, a confetti exit on the lawn, couples out among the vine rows, and a rose-covered pergola.

The wedding copy is one paragraph. Burnbrae markets itself first as a cellar door and second as a venue; expect to ask for the detail rather than read it.
Two cottages sleep on site. The Winemaker's Cottage — the original 1960s family home, two bedrooms, two queen beds, open fireplace — is $250 a night with a two-night minimum. Cancellation inside 14 days costs 50%; inside 48 hours, 100%.
Check the cellar door hours against your date. The site says both “10am - 4pm every day” and “Wednesday through to Sunday” on different pages. It also closes 25–26 December 2026 and 1 January 2027.
Third Sunday of the month is live music — Tunes@Burnbrae, with pizza on the lawn. Worth checking against your date either as a clash or as a rehearsal-weekend bonus.

NO WEDDING PRICING IS PUBLISHED. There is no package, per-head rate, venue hire fee, minimum spend or deposit anywhere on the site, and no PDF exists on the domain - every route was rendered and grepped, and the site carries no downloadable document at all. The Host an Event page ends in an enquiry: 'ENQUIRE HERE. Or if you prefer, give us a call on (02) 6373 3504 with details on the kind of event you are wanting to host at Burnbrae and we will get back to you as soon as possible.'
THE ONLY PUBLISHED PRICES ARE CELLAR-DOOR AND ACCOMMODATION PRICES, AND NONE OF THEM IS A WEDDING PRICE. From The Experience page: 'Wine Tasting - $5/person - available every day (bookings recommended for large groups)' and 'Antipasto Platter - $40 - available every day (bookings recommended)'. From the Winemaker's Cottage page: 'Cost: $250 per night. Minimum 2 night stay'. A $5 tasting fee and a $40 platter are not a wedding per-head rate and price_per_head is NULL rather than populated from them.
THE COTTAGE CANCELLATION TERMS ARE PUBLISHED IN FULL AND ARE STRICT: 'If you cancel or amend your booking outside of 14 days prior to check in you will be charged a 10% administration fee. 50% of accommodation costs will be charged in the event of amendment or cancellation within 14 days of check in date. 100% of accommodation costs will be charged in the event of cancellation within 48 hours of check in time or of no show.'
THE SITE CONTRADICTS ITSELF ON CELLAR-DOOR HOURS. The Contact page says 'Visit our Cellar Door: 10am - 4pm every day*'; The Experience page opens 'You can visit our cellar door Wednesday through to Sunday 10am and 4pm at 548 Hill End Road'; and the Winemaker's Cottage page says to call 'us 7 days a week between 10am and 4pm'. Two of the three say seven days, one says five. Recorded as published rather than resolved. The Experience page also flags closures: 'we will be closed on 25-26 December 2026, and 1 January 2027.'
A RECURRING EVENT WORTH CHECKING A DATE AGAINST. 'Lazy Pizza Afternoon - every Friday, Saturday and Sunday 12-4pm' and 'Every third Sunday you'll even be spoilt with some live music with Tunes@Burnbrae.' The venue also runs 'An Evening at Burnbrae' and Christmas party packages. A wedding on a third Sunday shares the property with a music afternoon unless exclusivity is agreed - the site publishes no exclusive-use policy either way.
