Penrith Bridal Centre has been dressing brides from 26 Soper Place since 1986 — a family-owned boutique now approaching forty years in the same business, and one of the few outside the Sydney CBD carrying couture labels at this level. Its own framing is about saving you the trip: "our goal is to ensure that brides can conveniently shop for and wear couture wedding gowns without the hassle of travelling to the Sydney CBD". Brides come from the inner city and the western suburbs, and the boutique says from as far as Darwin and Hobart. It is strictly appointment-only, and the store itself — racks under a chandelier, a gold velvet sofa, a private fitting area — is built for an unhurried hour rather than a browse.

Over 500 gowns in store, drawn from seventeen labels: Karen Willis Holmes, Hera Couture, Justin Alexander, Jack Sullivan, Watters (with Willowby and w.too), Nicole Milano, Madi Lane, Pronovias (including Privée and Atelier Haute Couture), Rosa Clara, Katy Corso, Tina Valerdi, House of St. Patrick, Rachel Rose, Wendy Makin, Brides Desire and Savin London — which the boutique holds exclusively in Australia, describing itself as "Australia's largest (and original) stockist". Veils are by Toni Federici. There is a dedicated CURVE collection of plus-size gowns "designed with shape in mind… with boning and structure to make every Bride feel supported", and trunk shows run through the year with designers occasionally in store in person.

Brides in western Sydney and the Blue Mountains who want couture labels without the city trip, and anyone who would rather have fittings ten minutes from home than an hour away. The two sample-sale galleries — one for sizes 10 to 16, one for 18 to 24 — make it a genuine option on a tighter budget, and the CURVE collection and size-inclusive sample range mean plus-size brides are shopping the same room as everyone else rather than a corner of it.

The Need-to-Knows

Strictly by appointment, one hour, and the boutique asks for no more than four guests — "think about only bringing people who's opinions you trust". Start looking as soon as you are engaged, with the intention of ordering 12–18 months out; some designers now take nine months to make a gown. Buying off the floor is possible if time is short. A fully qualified bridal dressmaker is in store on Thursday evenings by appointment for alterations. Open Monday to Friday 9–5, Thursday until 8, Saturday until 3 or 4, closed Sundays and public holidays. Wear flesh-toned underwear, skip the spray tan and tinted moisturiser.

Standout Feature

The sample sale is not a rack in the back — it is over 200 gowns at any one time, discontinued designer stock at 10–50% off and priced $1,500–$5,000, split into its own size 10–16 and size 18–24 galleries so you can see what actually exists in your size before you book. In-house seamstresses alter it to fit.

Appointment Policy

The boutique is strictly by appointment only — "due to demand we are strictly by appointment only".
Each appointment is allocated one hour.
No more than four guests are asked to attend with the bride.
Around four gowns are tried on to start with, chosen with the consultant.
No appointment fee is published.
Appointments are requested through the enquiry form and are not confirmed until the boutique replies. Check your junk folder — if you have not heard within 24 hours, your appointment is not yet confirmed.
Opening hours are Monday to Friday 9:00am–5:00pm, Thursday until 8:00pm and Saturday until 3:00pm, closed Sundays and all public holidays.
Alteration appointments with the in-house dressmaker are on Thursday evenings, by appointment only.

Dress Experience

Appointments are strictly booked and run to an hour: "We allocate 1 Hour for your appointment. During this time, your consultant will take you through our collections, discuss at length the style you are after, and help you choose which four gowns you'd like to try on." The boutique asks for no more than four guests — "think about only bringing people who's opinions you trust. A decision maker if you will. Such as your mum, sister or maid of honour" — and suggests bringing screenshots of gowns you have liked on the website or socials as a starting point. On timing: "As soon as you are engaged! With the intention of ordering 12-18 months out if possible. This allows time for the gown to be made (some designers take 9 months now since covid!) and to also allow time for any alterations", with buying off the floor available for shorter timelines. On what to wear: "Flesh toned underwear is always best, but not compulsory… We also recommend keeping makeup to a minimum & no spray tan or tinted moisturiser please, as this can get all over the gowns."
