• Forever Bridal runs a low-friction appointment: complimentary, 1 to 1.5 hours, and you can often just walk in Tuesday to Friday if a stylist is free. The store has dressed hundreds of brides since 2001 and its stylists work by asking about the wedding itself - location, budget, and how you want to feel - before pulling gowns; it suggests writing down six adjectives for how you want to look on the day. Because everything is off the rack and brand new in the bag, you try on the exact dress you will wear rather than a sample two sizes off, and you can buy it and leave with it. If you cannot decide, they quote your top two or three and keep them on file, with the honest caveat that off-the-rack stock may sell. Then it goes to the alterations room on site, where the team re-sizes and customises - beading, belts, crystals, straps, lace, flowers, sleeves and jackets can all be tried on during the fitting to build the look. Afterwards the store also cleans the gown.
