It once ran three shops; today it is deliberately one, a single boutique on Kingston Road at Underwood on Brisbane’s southside, roughly midway between the CBD and the Gold Coast. The current fit-out is calm and pared back - a lounge to browse in, private rooms to try in, and stylists who work one-on-one. It is also the rare Brisbane store that dresses the whole wedding party under one roof: bridal, bridesmaids, mother of the bride and a large formalwear floor.

The catalogue is big and it is published in full: 365 products, of which 137 are wedding gowns, alongside 151 formal dresses, 20 bridesmaid styles, a mother-of-the-bride line and 19 accessories. Bridal runs from soft A-lines and modern minimal crepes through romantic lace, structured Mikado ball gowns and fitted mermaids, and includes a run of mini and short wedding dresses for registry days and second looks. Most gowns carry the store’s own After Five label, with Maya Bella Bridal among the outside collections. Dress Experience

After Five runs a structured, unhurried appointment and publishes the shape of it. You start with a consultation with your dedicated stylist, talking through the wedding details, the venue, your style inspiration, your budget and any gowns you already have saved - which lets them pull a selection that fits, plus a few you would not have picked yourself. You are then moved into a private appointment space where you and your guests can settle in, and the stylist works through a curated run of gowns chosen around your shape and vision. The store is explicit that this is meant to feel calm rather than rushed, and that it works either way - whether you know exactly what you want or have no idea where to begin. Guests are encouraged rather than capped, which is unusual, and the store describes browsing the lounge, checking in, then opening the bubbles before the try-ons start.
