Yesterday Creative is a letterpress house in Geebung, in Brisbane’s north, built around a 1950s Heidelberg platen press bought in 2011. Design and printing both happen on site, and you can visit the shop to see the presses and a wall of invitations before deciding anything.

Style & Printing

The work is classic and traditional with a vintage streak, alongside modern minimal and strongly typographic designs, and monograms recur throughout. Printing is letterpress in one or two colours, foil in copper, silver or gold, and full-colour digital, with die-cutting, laser cutting and edge painting available. Stocks run to 300 and 450gsm cotton, a 600gsm upgrade, handmade deckled-edge papers and translucent sheets. Illustrations, maps, monograms and crests are drawn in house.

Ideal For

Couples who want letterpress specifically, and who would rather feel the impression in the paper before ordering. It suits planners too — the studio works directly with them. There are three ways in: a fully custom design, a Signature Collection design re-set with your own details to keep the design fee down, or your own artwork supplied for printing.

The studio welcomes visitors to its Geebung invitation shop, open Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm, with after-hours visits by appointment. Appointments are recommended rather than required, so that you get a proper stretch of time.

Price Notes

⭐ Pricing is in two separate parts and the studio is explicit about it: a design fee, then printing quoted on top, with delivery extra again. The published figures never include each other.
Choosing a Signature Collection design rather than a custom one is what keeps the design fee down - from $250 instead of $400 for the entry suite - because the studio re-sets an existing design with your details rather than drawing a new one. Personalising a Signature design beyond that is charged at $99 plus GST an hour.
Belly bands come with guest names printed at no extra cost. Artwork fees of $40 to $80 apply to several extras on top of their print cost, and wax seals, laser cutting, edge painting and custom die-cut shapes are priced on application.
The published design fees are described by the studio as indicative only, and all prices include GST.

Stationery Packages

Four suite sizes, each priced by print method and quantity. Essentials is the invitation and envelope; Traditional adds an A6 card; Premium adds two A6 cards; Luxury adds two A6 cards, a reply card and a second envelope.
Printing for 35 copies runs from $295 for digital Essentials to $660 for letterpress in one colour and $840 for foil; at 125 copies the same suite is $640, $1,030 and $1,340. A Luxury suite at 125 copies is $1,630 digital, $2,795 letterpress and $3,790 in foil.
Extras are itemised too: envelope liners from $320 for 35, a 600gsm paper upgrade from $45, deckled-edge papers from $140, swing tags from $120, belly bands from $120 with guest names printed at no extra cost, and letterpress return addressing from $175. Wax seals, laser cutting, edge painting and custom die-cut shapes are quoted on application.

Turnaround Time

Its published production times, once an order is running, are seven days for a Signature Collection suite printed digitally, two weeks for Signature letterpress or foil, two to three weeks for a custom design printed digitally, and three to four weeks for custom letterpress or foil. There is a two to three day wait for printing plates alone, and orders can be fast-tracked if you give a deadline when booking.
