Posy is DeeAnn Busby, a boutique floral designer working from Yeppoon on the Capricorn Coast. She grew up on ten acres at the base of Mount Archer outside Rockhampton, trained in Brisbane, and ran a Yeppoon retail shop for five years before selling it in 2018 to focus the business on weddings, events, workshops and corporate work.
Seasonal and led by what the day actually needs. Her advice is to “select flowers or foliage that you love, and are meaningful” and then talk through “what is in season at that time, appropriate for the occasion and the venue also.” Her own galleries run from a long table set beneath a mango orchard, to a rust and burnt-orange urn arrangement beside a bell tent, to white lisianthus and magnolia in a fluted vessel, to a confetti exit at a coastal ceremony.
A couple marrying somewhere the venue is doing half the work — an orchard, a headland, a Keppel Bay island — and who wants the flowers to belong to that place rather than to a catalogue. “At Posy, we aim to create florals that will be memorable long after the event has ended.”
Everything starts with an enquiry form, and wedding package pricing is sent in response to it rather than published. The conversation is with DeeAnn directly. Alongside weddings she runs workshops and corporate work, and the business has been floral-design-only since the retail shop was sold.
Twelve years of one person’s eye, in one place. The wedding gallery runs to more than sixty published weddings across the Capricorn Coast, and the thing that carries through them is restraint — a single urn at the entrance to a tent, one arrangement on a long table, an arbour that lets the headland behind it do the talking.
