Hannah Benwell is an Adelaide wedding photographer whose whole approach is built around making couples feel unselfconscious. She reckons about eight in ten of the couples who book her open with some version of “we are so awkward”, and the pictures she takes are her answer to that. Expect laughter, movement and a photographer who is comfortable being the one to break the ice.
Style & Approach
The work is documentary and natural, built on real interaction rather than arranged poses. She describes directing rather than posing, and much of a day is spent encouraging couples to move, hold each other close and talk to one another while she works around them.
