High Country Estate
About
Overview & Vibe
An award-winning garden estate at Goughs Bay, fifteen minutes from Mansfield on the shore side of Lake Eildon. It is a public garden attraction that also does weddings — two hectares of designed landscape shaped into intimate garden rooms, sweeping lawns and enchanting pathways, plus a hedge maze, a labyrinth, giant topiaries, sculptures, a fine art gallery and a café. The gardens have been shown on Gardening Australia, Better Homes & Gardens and Secrets of Beautiful Gardens.
Setting & Style
Ceremonies go “beneath ancient trees” and receptions among seasonal blooms, with indoor and outdoor spaces across the grounds. The features a couple actually books around are the hedged avenues, the topiary lawns, the maze and the sculpture rooms — a wagon wheel set into a hedge, a cherub on a plinth, a figure blowing a trumpet in a green alcove — and giant lawn chess for the guests.
Ideal For
Couples who want a formal, meticulously kept garden rather than a paddock, at up to 150 guests, with the catering and coordination handled by one team.
The Need-to-Knows
- Catering and coordination now come with the venue. The estate has an exclusive partnership with Master of Munch Catering, and describes the result as “seamless venue, catering, and event coordination — all under one trusted brand”: bespoke menus, beverage packages, on-site coordination and styling support.
- Enquiry goes to Jenny or Nancy.
- Up to 150 guests, stated once, for “intimate weddings through to larger celebrations”. No seated-versus-cocktail split is published.
- It is a fully licensed venue. Stated plainly in the offer list.
- Directory listings under the old name are describing the same place.
- The garden is a working public attraction with a café, a gallery and a maze open to visitors. Confirm what exclusivity a wedding booking buys.
- Contact is two mobiles and a caterer's email address — Jenny on 0414 385 123, Nancy on 0402 939 199, info@masterofmunch.com.
Standout Feature
Two hectares of television-featured formal garden — hedged avenues, topiary, a maze and a labyrinth — fifteen minutes from Mansfield.

Price Notes
- Pricing is provided on enquiry — no per-head rate, venue hire fee, minimum spend, package figure or deposit is published. Enquiries go by phone or to the caterer's email.
- Catering and coordination come with the venue under an exclusive partnership, which is the main thing to know here: the estate is partnered with Master of Munch Catering and provides venue, catering and event coordination under one brand, including bespoke menus, beverage packages and on-site styling support. The word the estate uses is "exclusive", so assume you cannot bring your own caterer.
- The venue is fully licensed, with full bar service. No BYO option is mentioned.
- The estate traded for years as High Country Gardens, Gallery and Maze and now trades as High Country Estate. It is the same property, so older reviews and directory listings under the previous name still describe it.
- The estate describes its gardens as four acres in one place, six acres in another and two hectares in a third — so read the size as roughly five acres.
- Contact is two mobiles and the caterer's email: Jenny on 0414 385 123, Nancy on 0402 939 199, and info@masterofmunch.com. There is no venue landline, which follows from the catering partnership.
- The gardens are a public attraction as well as a wedding venue — a café, a fine art gallery and a hedge maze all operate for day visitors. Nothing published sets out what exclusivity a wedding booking buys, so ask.
- The gardens have been curated over many years and shown on Gardening Australia, Better Homes & Gardens and Secrets of Beautiful Gardens.
- The estate also hosts corporate events, milestone birthdays, anniversaries, family reunions and private lunches in the same spaces, and keeps a separate special-events schedule — so check your date against it.
