Brown Brothers has been at Milawa since 1889, in the King Valley about two and a half hours from Melbourne in Australia’s prosecco country. Weddings here centre on a restored 1860s barn, with the vineyard, gardens, lake and historic windmill around it.

Setting & Style

Ceremonies are held outdoors under the oak trees, which give shade and a backdrop of vines and distant mountains, with a wet-weather venue held in reserve. The reception moves into the Historic Barn — 140 seated or 160 standing — and between the two there is a prosecco hour on the grounds. Photographs range over the 1960s underground family cellar, the original winery behind the cellar door with its century-old oak barrels, and a walk around the lake and cottage garden.

The Need-to-Knows

There is no accommodation on site. The venue says so plainly and keeps a list of options in Milawa and Wangaratta, plus bus companies.
Minimum spend drives the real cost: $10,000 Sunday to Friday, $15,000 Saturday, and $8,000 off peak.
Off peak is 1 May to 30 September and it is a substantial saving — a 10% discount on the per-person food and beverage package, the reduced $8,000 minimum, and complimentary ceremony site hire.
2026 reception packages are $200 per person for two courses, $220 for three and $225 roaming, each including a five-hour standard beverage package and your cake served.
The ceremony is $600 and includes 30 white bentwood chairs, two wine barrels and a signing table; extra chairs are $5 each to a maximum of 50.
The Bridal Cottage is $450 for the full day from 8.30am, or $250 between ceremony and reception, with a cheese board, two bottles of sparkling and twelve beers.
Dietary requirements raised later than 21 days out cost $20 per person per course.
Confetti, glitter and fake petals are banned; real fresh rose petals are permitted.

OFF PEAK, 1 May to 30 September, is worth a great deal: 'Wedding functions held during this time are eligible for a 10% discount to the food and beverage package per person cost, a reduced minimum spend of $8,000 and complimentary ceremony site hire.'
CEREMONY: 2025/2026 price $600, including 30 white bentwood chairs, 2 wine barrels, a signing table, use of the grounds and historic buildings for bridal photos, and a backup wet weather venue option.
