Alan Rogers Photography is a wedding photojournalism studio working out of Doncaster East in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs, with fifteen years and hundreds of weddings behind it. The approach is to stay out of the way and let the day happen: guests arriving, the ceremony, the speeches, the first dance and everything unplanned in between. Melbourne and the surrounding areas carry no travel cost, and interstate and overseas weddings are photographed too.
Candid, documentary and unposed, with natural colours and no heavy filters or novelty angles. Formal family and bridal party portraits are still taken when you want them, and the detail you have spent months choosing is recorded as carefully as the big moments. Photographs are personally edited rather than rushed through, which is why they take six to eight weeks to arrive.
Couples who want the day remembered as it actually felt rather than staged, and who would rather not spend an hour posing. It suits everything from a simple registry ceremony or a relaxed half-day through to a full celebration, and there are ten options to choose between. Engagement sessions and engagement parties are photographed as well, which is a useful way to meet before the wedding.
Wedding and engagement photography starts from $550, with the Fly On The Wall package at $995 covering three to four hours; extra hours are $250 each and video can be added from $100. A 30 per cent deposit holds your date, the balance is due any time before the wedding, and monthly pre-payments are offered. There are no hidden expenses. Check availability first, as bookings are taken up to two years ahead.
Only one wedding is booked per weekend, so there is no rushing off to the next one and no clock-watching if your day runs long. Every couple also receives an online wedding album hosted for twelve months, with copies to download and the hosting extendable, and full backups are kept for at least five years in two locations.
